Just finished the course “Foundations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) (2019)” by Jonathan Reichental, Ph.D.! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eNWvUQgr #industry40. Simple, lucid and topics properly sequenced. Must do if one has no idea about Industry 4.0. Content very much relative and engrossing. The best thing I like is the the build up from human evolution to industrial journey and final thoughts about climate change and sustainability.

'📢 Excited to Share Part I of Amplify's Special Issue on Digital Innovation and Climate Action 🌍 I'm very happy to present this special issue on the Twin Transition that I edited for Arthur D. Little's Amplify Journal (https://lnkd.in/eDadRa4i). It brings together thought-provoking insights at the intersection of digital innovation and climate action from thought leaders in academia, corporates, climate tech scale-ups and unicorns, and think tanks. As the world need urgent climate action more than even, the articles explores the critical role of digital technologies in tackling climate change and the challenges and risks involved. Highlights from this issue include: The Twin Transition: Christina Bidmon, Laura Piscicelli, Iryna Susha, Devin Diran, Francesca Ciulli, and Albert Meijer outline the complex needs of a "twin transition" that merges digital and sustainability goals. Their four key takeaways include a call for realism in tech optimism and the need for policy-business collaboration. Mission-Oriented Policy Using Crowdsourcing: Damla Diriker, Amanda Porter, and Ilse Hellemans discuss how digital tools can drive mission-oriented policies, using crowdsourcing to refine and implement impactful solutions. Energy and Mobility: Jannis Jehmlich from 1KOMMA5 tackles renewable energy integration challenges, while Pieter Waller co-founder of Chargetrip shares how digital solutions can scale commercial e-mobility effectively. Frameworks for Sustainable AI: Jonatan Pinkse and René Bohnsack present actionable guidance for managing AI's environmental impact, emphasizing responsible oversight. Building Digital Talent for Sustainability: Alessia Falsarone addresses the need for skilled digital talent to handle the sustainability challenges ahead, with best practices for nurturing the next generation of experts. I am planning to present more insights on each of the articles in the coming weeks. A big thank you for the editorial support at Cutter Consortium, an Arthur D. Little community and to all the contributing authors, for their insights and dedication to advancing digital innovation for climate action. Stay tuned for Part II, where we’ll dive deeper into climate policies, case studies, and practical solutions to support the net-zero transition.

Dear colleagues, If you’ve recently published in the fields of sustainable development and SDGs and/or advanced digital technologies (AI, blockchain, robotics, etc.), you may soon receive an invitation to participate in a short survey (approx. 5 minutes). The survey seeks to gather insights from the scientific community on the impact of digital technologies on sustainable development. Conducted by researchers at the University of Strasbourg through the EU Survey platform, it is part of the "Sustainable Economies in the Era of Digitalization" (SEED) project (https://lnkd.in/d_gDMMab ), funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). If you receive the invitation, we kindly ask that you participate. Your responses will help us deepen our understanding of the diverse impacts of digital technologies on society. Thank you in advance! 🌍 How does climate technology affect environmental protection projects and how can we use it most effectively? 🌱 In the face of the global climate crisis, shrinking ecosystems and wilderness on our planet, effective and particularly transparent conservation projects are crucial to demonstrate its impact to everyone. The following article explores how technology, from AI to satellites, is becoming a game-changer for transparent, effective conservation efforts - https://lnkd.in/eW8AHphD But to give more insights - let's explore the basics on how these innovations are making climate action more transparent and effective: Overcoming the Tragedy of the Commons: Climate #technology can provide real-time data on #emissions, allowing individuals, businesses, and governments to track their impact and make informed decisions. This transparency fosters accountability and could boost incentives to reduce carbon emissions. Unlocking new needed technological breakthroughs: By using #data and #AI, climate protection #technology can showcase the effects of existing climate protection projects and promote their impact. In addition, concrete resource allocation can be optimised as well as speeding up the development of new climate protection projects or approaches. Precision Conservation: Climate tech, Satellite imagery and data analysis tools can be deployed for real-time monitoring of endangered species habitats, deforestation rates, or pollution levels. This data empowers conservation efforts by pinpointing areas needing immediate attention and measuring the success of implemented strategies. 🌍 For a deeper dive into climate technology and collaboration opportunities, check out -->https://lnkd.in/eqrukVD3🌱
