I don’t think the ratios are going to change anytime soon. But I don’t think it has to be a disadvantage. Being a Black woman, being a woman in general, on a team of all men, means that you are going to have a unique voice. Hot 🔥 take 🔔 If you leave a Women in Telco (insert synonymous word like Fiber or Connectivity or Tech in place of Telco) feeling warm + fuzzy, they’re doing. It. Wrong. You should feel uncomfortable. You should feel a tad ragey. You should feel motivated. In order to move forward we have to get uncomfortable, talk about the biases, and *gasp* INVITE THE MEN! Is the telco industry getting better? Absolutely. I’m not denying that we are seeing more and more powerful women making waves in the space. But until we see and hear more women - specifically women of color - it’s important to have crucial, sticky conversations. Not pastries and storytelling.

Things we know we need more of to make a change:   1. Showcasing achievements of women in technology to open doors (tick box) 2. More female role models to inspire the next generation (tick box) 3.
