Maximizing #Biomass Power Generation with HORIBA Europe’s Innovative Solutions Biomass power generation stands as a key component in the global shift toward renewable energy, utilizing organic materials such as plant and animal waste. Unlike fossil fuels, biomass offers a “carbon-neutral” advantage, as the CO₂ released during combustion matches the CO₂ absorbed during growth. This sustainable cycle makes biomass essential for reducing emissions and powering industries responsibly. HORIBA provides cutting-edge monitoring solutions to enhance biomass efficiency, from continuous siloxane detection in biogas to real-time temperature monitoring in combustion processes. Their analyzers ensure operational safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency, positioning HORIBA as a leader in renewable energy technology. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eKcPcHRE

This is so important, maybe the most important post from us so far. Reminder for all decision-makers: conducting a serious, independent life-cycle analysis is the ONLY WAY to really compare different energy technologies including biofuels and other bioenergy applications. Far too often this is neglected in favor of broad brush arguments and unrealistic future scenarios. All investors or potential buyers of green tech should always include LCA requirements in their decision criteria. So how good of a result is this? Well, being able to produce biogas (or any biofuel for that matter) with a negative carbon footprint is truly unique. Only highly efficient conversion technologies featuring inherent permanent carbon sinks can do this.
Today, we are proud to announce the results of our first Life Cycle Assessment (#LCA), conducted in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology. The study reveals that our biomass gasification plant in Kisa not only reduces emissions but also has the potential to achieve negative emissions, reaching as low as -6 g CO2-eq/kWh. This means that our technology can remove more #CO2 from the atmosphere than it emits! ”Through our biomass gasification technology, we can transform locally sourced biogenic waste into two valuable products: biosyngas and biochar,” explains Niclas Davidsson, CEO of Meva Energy. ”Biosyngas serves as a renewable energy source for industrial processes, replacing fossil fuels, while biochar, recognized by the EU as a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technology, enhances soil health and reduces atmospheric carbon. Combining these benefits is the reason we achieve such good metrics in our LCA.“ Read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/dC_Pg7U8 #gasification #renewableenergy #biomass #syngas #biochar
