2-5 years for pledges. MAX Why? People’s interests and situations change in a decade. Frankly, you need the cash as soon as possible to move your mission forward. We don’t recommend asking for multi year pledges unless there’s a strategic advantage to doing so or the donor requests it. Cash in ASAP moves your mission forward faster.

While some of the companies that donated prohibit #politicaldonations, Woodside Energy told us at FS Sustainability that its #Voice donation was political. Investors expect ASX-listed companies to watch their #corporatedonations more closely, as the donor list of the #2023Voice referendum uncovers a thin line between #political versus #philanthropic activities. This is an amazing success story about Warsaw, and I hope similar measures could be applied in my home city, Bishkek. Bishkek has grown rapidly over the last decade, and most of the new suburbs use coal and even fabric for heating, which creates huge air pollution. Why fabric? There are numerous sewing shops in Bishkek, and fabric leftovers, instead of being properly disposed of, end up in stoves. Over the last couple of years, control over private residences has been intensified, and fines for burning toxic materials have become substantial. This year, the air pollution is less in Bishkek. In addition, Bishkek's heating plant heavily uses coal for the production of hot water and electricity. There are plans to move it to gas, yet as of now, it still uses coal. So, the solution for clean air definitely lies in stricter control of what people use for heating and moving to cleaner sources of energy.

In facing the climate crisis, Friends of the Earth needs to be robust, resilient and capable to take on immense challenges, to be brave enough to push for bold action and change today and long into the future. To achieve this we need to ensure we have a strong and reliable financial base to keep us going for as long as we are needed. That financial base needs to be majorly people powered, free of corporate or government agendas. Our supporter income is at the core of our independence, and legacy gifts are pivotal to this. Leave a Legacy, help save what we love!🌻 And what better time to start than now - did you know that September is #MyLegacyMonth? Learn how to leave a legacy gift to Friends of the Earth here➡ https://lnkd.in/esWKZS-7 #MyLegacyWillBe #MyLegacyMonth #ClimateAction #ClimateJustice #Legacy #Fundraising

2 major announcements by Canada's federal government today: a taxonomy to define/guide climate-forward investments + mandatory disclosure of climate risk by federally regulated major emitters. Both will enable $billions to the net-zero economic transition. And both are the product of much hard work by the non-profit sector, supported by climate philanthropy.
