Every quarter on behalf of @kyndryl I host an Expert Exchange with #CIOs and technical leaders from around the Canadian marketplace to discuss opportunities and challenges they are facing. The main theme this quarter was focused on #GenerativeAI adoption and that despite significant AI investments to drive modernization, leaders struggle to see positive #ROI. This sentiment happens to align directly with the findings from our recent @Kyndryl Readiness Report (https://lnkd.in/gpT7ZFHQ), where Kyndryl surveyed 3200 business executives globally on how they see technology helping or hindering their progress. It was a passionate and very engaged conversation. One thing that stood out most for me is that many CIO's are waiting for vendors to provide GenAI capabilities as integrated features, which may come with higher costs but are more likely to come with clear use cases and returns. In today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, a concerning trend is emerging: confidence in IT departments among C-suite executives, including CIOs themselves, has significantly declined over the past decade. According to IBM’s latest research, only 36% of CEOs believe their IT teams are effectively delivering basic services, a steep drop from 64% in 2013. The complexities of modern technology, from AI to cloud infrastructures, have increased the demands on IT, yet legacy systems and talent shortages often hinder the department's agility and responsiveness. IT is now seen more as a cost center than a driver of innovation, leading to decreased investment and a diminishing role in strategic initiatives. However, there’s a clear path forward for IT leaders to reclaim their relevance. By embracing a business-centric approach, IT can shift from being merely a service provider to becoming a true strategic partner.
