🚀 𝗪𝗛𝗬𝗟𝗗: 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 ! Launched in March 2023 with the support of the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), the #WHYLD project aims to deploy a network of 1,000 micro-stations by the end of 2024 in France and Croatia, and an additional 2,000 across Europe by 2026. These micro-stations, true river sentinels, will collect valuable hydrological data essential for monitoring and forecasting watercourses: water height, velocity, flow, surface temperature... Over a year later, where do we stand? Here’s our progress update: ✅ Successful fundraising: €2.9M raised from institutional investors and banking partners to accelerate the deployment of the WHYLD project. ✅ Ongoing deployment: about 500 sites will be equipped with micro-stations by the end of summer 2024 in France and Croatia! ✅ Growing team: in one year, the number of employees at vorteX-io has more than doubled. Today, 35 experts bring together their skills to design, develop, and promote our innovative solutions. With its rapid deployment and strong financial backing, the WHYLD project is set to play a crucial role in revolutionizing real-time hydrological monitoring 🔍 To learn more, check out the full article on our blog ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eqBzeWsx #vortexio #EICAccelerator #Innovation #Hydrology #WaterManagement #Climate

🌳 Exciting news from the ESA Global Development Assistance (GDA) programme! The GDA Forest Management activity officially kicked off on 3rd September and will continue for the next 21 months. This activity, led by GAF AG alongside partners like IGN FI, ONF International, unique land use GmbH, GisBox, and Caribou Space, focuses on enhancing sustainable forest management through Earth Observation (EO) technology. The activity addresses critical areas such as: ✔️ REDD+ workflows and deforestation early warning systems ✔️ Forest and landscape planning and management ✔️ Monitoring mangrove ecosystems and vulnerable areas ✔️ Promoting zero deforestation supply chains, including compliance with the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). By combining EO technology with expertise in forest ecosystems, this activity aims to support International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and developing countries in their efforts to protect vital forest resources. Looking forward to seeing how this initiative helps drive sustainability and resilience in forest management! 💧 "𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬" 👉 Yesterday, at Abbazia di Santo Spirito al Morrone, in Badia di Sulmona (Italian region of Abruzzo), the seminar "Between Tradition and Innovation: Rational Management and Protection of Water Resources" was held, organized by Consorzio di Bonifica Interno Bacino Aterno and Sagittario. 📌 The seminar addressed the delicate issue of drought and climate change and was an integral part of an informational and training journey aimed at raising awareness about a more effective and efficient use of water resources. The goal was to identify suitable strategies for adapting to climate change through the balanced and conscious use of water. 💡 The event was also attended by Paolo Sebastiani, General Manager AC.MO S.r.l., who presented the company's experience with 3rd and 4th level water meters. This is a task that AC.MO S.r.l. continues to pursue, following an innovative approach centered on the use of digital technologies and monitoring. This includes not only flow meters for monitoring and controlling water distribution, but also cutting-edge #Hydropass units featuring ultrasonic measurement technology and data transmission via LoRaWAN technology. #ACMO #ExpectAVK #AVKGroup #seminar #informational #journey #awareness #strategies #climatechange #conscioususeofwater #innovativeapproach #digitaltechnologies #monitoring #waterdistribution #Hydropass #system

I had the pleasure to be in Copenhagen last week to participate to the conference "Earth Observation for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification of Carbon Removals", co-organized by the European Space Agency - ESA and European Environment Agency, to discuss how Earth Observation can enable large-scale monitoring of carbon emissions and removals in support of the EU’s environmental goals. 🛰️ 🌱 Here are a few key points from the exchanges: - how satellite data can improve tracking of carbon fluxes from land use, forests, and agricultural practices, - how EU frameworks, like the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF), can help recognize and certify efforts towards carbon removal, - how we can drive investment in nature restoration initiatives, particularly in blue carbon and biodiversity projects, - how better data, supported by in-situ evidence and validated datasets, can lead to better models to quantify and track carbon stock and fluxes. A big thank you to the EEA and ESA teams for organizing such a valuable event; and to all the participants for our insightful exchanges! 🌍Last month, we completed the "Copernicus High Cadence Monitoring for the EU Green Deal" project for DG DEFIS and the European Commission, exploring how higher-frequency #EarthObservation (EO) - the use of satellites to monitor land, marine (seas, rivers, lakes) and atmosphere - can drive progress towards the #EU #GreenDeal's objectives. At Trinomics, our policy experts developed a comprehensive framework to analyze EGD policies and explore technical and technological opportunities for leveraging EO services in environmental monitoring. Working alongside our valued partners - IGN FI, EOXPLORE UG, KERMAP, Terranea, and TerraSphere - we brought together policy experts and EO specialists to develop pilot demonstrations and use cases of how satellite data can fill critical gaps in environmental observation, such as: ✔️Enhancing urban air quality monitoring ✔️Improving wildfire detection ✔️Mapping blue carbon ecosystems for their carbon sequestration potential Congratulations to our partners and the dedicated Trinomics team (Petra Remeta, Maha J. Cziesielski, Francesca Libera Falco, Maja Lardot, Daria Selyavina, Rahadian Rukmana) for making this project a success! 👏
