Red ocean or blue? Red ocean is a business concept describing a market with high competition, while blue ocean is a market with no competition. Blue ocean is usually for new or innovative ideas. Many companies believe they should run a business in a blue ocean because it is less risky. Since they don't need to compete, they are highly likely to gain a large market share and become a leader in the blue ocean. In contrast, many companies prefer red ocean, they say there is no competition in blue oceans because there is no demand there and we don't to get a market share of nothing. They prefer competing for existing market rather than creating an imaginary market.
