This #GivingTuesday, I want to share the incredible impact of Platoon 22, an organization that is so much more than just a veteran service—it's a family that truly connects with and supports every individual who walks through our doors. Platoon 22 is dedicated to providing life-changing resources for veterans and first responders, offering support in areas like affordable housing, financial assistance, mentorship, and year round support. But it’s not just about services; it's about the relationships we build. We take the time to truly see and understand each person who comes to us for help, and we don’t stop until we’ve made a meaningful difference in their lives. The number 22 represents the average number of veterans we lose to suicide every day. 22 a day is too many, and we are working relentlessly to end this tragic statistic. Our mission is personal, and our team is committed to supporting those who have sacrificed so much for us. The TowerCares Foundation has granted over $3 million to help military families, Veterans, and children in need. Four special $25,000 donations to local TowerCares Community Heroes charity partners, (Hero Dogs, Inc., Casey Cares Foundation, Hospice of the Chesapeake, and CAMP ATTAWAY INC), along with the credit union's innovative Pennies for Change program, helped push the Foundation over the $3 million mark in just under a decade.  https://lnkd.in/e3VKjMdx  #towercares #herodogs #caseycares #hospiceofthechesapeake #campattaway

Honoring today as #VeteransDay (November 11, 2024), Good Works Grant Writing is proud to highlight our #GoodWorksClient — Soldier's Best Friend! Soldier’s Best Friend's mission is to provide U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that touches two lives at once and inspires countless others. For many veterans, the transition from military to civilian life brings new challenges, and the companionship of a service dog can be a true lifeline. Each veteran-dog team is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the power of healing together. Working with Soldier’s Best Friend to secure funding means every dollar raised goes toward allowing these life-changing partnerships to flourish. Today, we celebrate our veterans, thank them for their service, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the work of Soldier’s Best Friend. SSAFA the Armed Forces charity and the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) have common charitable aims and have worked together closely for many years. Even as it draws to a close, 2024 is no exception, and ABF has awarded SSAFA an incredible £245,000, which breaks down as £210,000 towards its casework service for Army beneficiaries and £35,000 towards Stepping Stone Home. SSAFA’s casework, in simple terms, is at the core of the charity’s services, and the support provided is practical, efficient, and timely. Stepping Stone Home provides secure, female-only accommodation and services for women and children of the Armed Forces community who have experienced domestic abuse and violence.
