The Truth About Burnout Burnout isn’t just about being overworked. At its core, burnout is often rooted in unmet expectations—those we set for ourselves or those society imposes on us. It’s the gap between who we think we’re supposed to be and how we actually feel. Shame can sneak in, whispering that we’re not enough, not strong enough, or not doing enough. This constant tug-of-war leaves us drained, disconnected, and doubting ourselves. The good news? Recognizing this pattern is the first step to breaking it. When we let go of unrealistic expectations and reconnect with our true selves, we can heal and find joy again. If this resonates, let’s talk about what’s keeping you stuck—and how you can rewrite your story.

I ask myself 3 questions everyday to avoid burnout and I want to share them with you... Burnout isn’t about the amount of hours worked. This year, whether I was clocking in 4 hours a week or pushing 80, I’ve never felt more invigorated. Why? Because I’ve aligned deeply with my purpose. You’ve got to live your story, traverse through the pain and emerge on the other side with a mission so BIG that nothing can stop you. Here are the 3-questions that keep me aligned and avoiding burnout. 1. What am I grateful for today? 2. Who must I become to serve my purpose? 3. Who am I serving today? Staying faithful to these questions keeps me energized and focused, far from the shadows of burnout. ☀️What questions guide you each day? #MindsetShift #AvoidBurnout #DailyReflections #PurposeDrivenLife #WorkLifeRhythm

"Feeling ineffective doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means it’s time to refocus." Burnout often brings a loss of confidence and a sense that your efforts aren’t making an impact. Here’s how to begin shifting that narrative: > Recognize your wins: No matter how small, acknowledging progress builds confidence. > Reevaluate your tasks: Focus on actions that align with your strengths and values. > Rebuild your system: Use tools and habits that simplify and support your daily work. Values to consider: 💟 Clarity: Refocusing on what matters clears away the noise. 💟 Growth: Building confidence one step at a time creates lasting change. Every step toward self-efficacy matters. The journey starts with small, intentional actions. 🌟 Hi, I'm Dawn Dunsmore. Taking a break is enough to cure burnout, right? Wrong! This is one of the biggest myths I come across when it comes to burnout. Some time off can be part of the solution for someone who is experiencing burnout, but it’s not enough on its own. We need to get curious about which of the six root causes of burnout are contributing to their burnout in the first place, then work together to figure out solutions that work for them, the team and the organisation. As they say: if nothing changes, nothing changes. Without looking at the root causes of extreme, ongoing stress, problems will rear up again when that person returns from any leave they are able to take. For more on the six causes of burnout – and how you can start moving towards solutions that stick – pick up a copy of my book: https://lnkd.in/gQXPV5Rv

When dealing with burnout, the common wisdom is to engage in some form of recreation or numbing. The next time you feel burnout approaching, rather than planning your next escape, lean into it and consider: • What in your current way of working needs to change? • Where can you build in regular recovery? • How can you create more sustainable rhythms? • What boundaries need to be established or reinforced? Remember: The goal isn't to recover from burnout—it's to transform how we work so that burnout becomes unnecessary. You'll find more suggestions in my latest blog post, The Remedy for Burnout is Not Recreation but Sustainability. #TheSustainabilityCoach #systemsforlife #somaticcoaching https://lnkd.in/grMQ8CwP
