Cover design for Helga Zeiner that helped her book reach bestseller status on Amazon 2 months after launch!📚 Kind words from Helga: "We all know how important covers are. They are the first step to draw a potential reader’s attention to a book. Even though I had a pretty good cover for my book Lillian, I wanted something more exciting, more emotional. Lucky for me, Vanessa Ooms understood my briefing very quickly and delivered a few ideas which were all pretty good, and included one which created that instant WOW excitement I was looking for. Needless to say, this book climbed up the Amazon ranking faster than I thought possible and hit the coveted Amazon Bestseller no 1 ranking about 2 months after launch. Since then, Vanessa has been busy redesigning my older covers, coming up with one brilliant design after another. I feel very blessed that I can work with her, on the covers, as well as other publishing projects, and look forward to many more bestselling books, created with her help." The three best books I read in the first half of this year are: 1. "Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less" by Greg McKeown For everyone who would like to do less and better, but instead find themselves doing more and feeling that it's not of the quality they'd like. Personally, this book helped me answer several questions. I wrote about it in more detail in this post: https://lnkd.in/d5_AqUNi 2. "Black Box Thinking" by Matthew Syed About why failures can make us better. About those who made a lot of mistakes (like James Dyson, who made 5127 prototypes before producing his first bagless vacuum cleaner). I also wrote about this great book some time ago here: https://lnkd.in/dZJJppke 3. "Where the Forest Meets the Stars" by Glendy Vanderah A novel that shows there is more magic in our lives and sometimes it's worth trusting the heart over the mind. Beautiful, touching, wise. And, by the way, my friend, Aleksandra Dąbrowska, designed the cover for it 😊 What book would you recommend to others? I'm looking for interesting titles, feel free to share! 📚 #books #reading #businessbooks #recommendation

#bookreview There are couple of books which we would have read and enjoyed or sometimes bored and left it unfinished. There is always a book which stays in mind for a longer time till we spread the joy of having read that book. One such book which made me pause, think, relate and giggle is “SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS” by Thomas Erikson. Views are purely based on how the book impressed me and not related to workplace or other’s experiences. To start with, the cover page is inviting and does complete justice what the author tries to convey in his book. With simple language, real life examples, mild sarcasm, this book is definitely a compelling read. The way author has explained each colour/character/personality, readers are sure to get the flash of some people and wonder “oh yes, spot on”, “typical yellow”, “ah the red... I am aware” and few funny/frustrated comments. Maybe it is not that easy to group personalities under four colours (behavioural types) or pairing them with other colours(types), as everyone has combination of qualities rather than overpowering of only one trait. It is up to the readers to relate if they have “red boss, green partner, blue teammates or yellow friends and relatives”, breathe...smile!! No doubt .. great read .Grab it. There are two types of Amazon Kindle bestseller lists: free and paid. Some authors try to game the system by giving their book away for free just to hit those free bestseller lists and call themselves " bestselling authors." 🙄 Just a heads-up, folks—hitting a free list doesn’t mean you’re a bestselling author, it means you’re a pro at giveaways! 😅 True bestseller credibility lies in those paid bestseller lists. When your work is chosen to be displayed first in every line, it's a special feeling. Amazon Books did it, and so did every physical bookstore. Usually, the credit for a book's success goes to the writers. However, as the book cover designer for the best-seller Yaar Batohi, I’m going to take a little credit... just a tiny bit. Jokes aside, designing a book cover is a huge responsibility. Capturing attention and compelling a reader to pick up the book and explore it is the designer’s job. Holding their gaze for those crucial few seconds is the science and art behind designing a book jacket. #Happy #to #contribut #as #a #bookcover #designer

Most people get this wrong about bestselling book lists 😮💨 Bestseller lists are like filters. In a world where your readers have INFINITE possibilities, a bestseller list is a filter for their very FINITE attention. When they see your book on the bestseller list, it immediately signals to them that your book is credible, compelling, and worth their time. Sure, some authors might treat bestseller lists as a vanity project. But mission-driven messengers see bestseller lists as an impact-maximizing endeavor because it helps them reach more people and make a bigger impact.

"A book is a gift you can open again and again." - Garrison Keillor There's something truly magical about a book. It's more than just a collection of pages; it's a portal to another world, a companion through life's journeys, and a gift that keeps on giving. Unlike material possessions that may lose their luster over time, a book can be revisited countless times, offering new insights and perspectives with each reading. Why books are the ultimate gift: Endless possibilities: Books transport us to far-off lands, introduce us to fascinating characters, and teach us valuable lessons. Personal growth: Reading expands our horizons, challenges our beliefs, and helps us understand the world and ourselves better. Companionship: Books can provide comfort, solace, and inspiration, making us feel less alone. Timeless value: Unlike fleeting trends, books endure, offering timeless wisdom and entertainment. So, the next time you're looking for a thoughtful and enduring gift, consider giving a book. It's a gift that keeps on giving, enriching lives and inspiring generations. Do people judge a book by its cover? My simple answer to this is, Yes. Being a cover designer with an experience of 4 years I have worked on more than 500 books and I have concluded that the covers make a huge difference in the sales. The book cover is the first element that your potential reader is going to see. In today’s era of busy life where the entire world is shrunk inside a screen, we are no longer in that era where people would slowly walk through the aisles of bookstores reading the descriptions of the books that interest them. Nowadays, most books are published and sold in the e-book version and as you read by this passage many books have been published. So to attract the reader who is scrolling through the list of books on Amazon to stop and click on your book to read the description is the importance of the book cover. If we fail to make the audience stop and click on our book, then the great plot, blurb, and reviews are all gone to waste. Now convincing the reader who is now going through the book description to read your book is in the hands of interesting book descriptions, reviews, and sample chapters. In other words, book cover is that element of the book that will stop the reader from scrolling and will make them click on your book. A bad book title can kill a book. A good book title gives a book a chance in today's competitive marketplace. First-time authors tend to overthink it. My advice: Try not to think about your book title from the perspective of what's inside your book. Instead think about it from the perspective of what the reader wants or needs. A good book simply title elicits an emotion and is easy to remember. I'll use an illustration from outside the book publishing industry. I visited a paint store yesterday and collected oodles of swatches. None of the swatches told me what combination of colors made-up the particular color of the swatch. They did not describe the color at all. Instead they made it emotional and easy to remember. I've narrowed it down to 7 colors: 🎨 Summer Shower 🎨 Pike's Peak Gray 🎨 Puritan Gray 🎨 Soft Chinchilla 🎨 Bunny Gray 🎨 Chantilly Lace 🎨 Ocean Air I think you get the point. :) Shopping for a book is like shopping for a paint color. #books #publishing #authors #bookcovers #bestseller
