Wipro's newly appointed CEO, Srinivas Pallia, in his first email to employees on Monday, discussed three qualities- 📌 resilience, tenacity, and adaptability- that he has embraced as a passionate hiker and which will guide him as a leader. Pallia, who replaced Thierry Delaporte as CEO last week, drew parallels between the qualities of a hiker and those of an effective leader. He said that traits such as determination, adaptability, patience, and curiosity are essential for success. "These very qualities will guide me in my new journey as your CEO," he stated. Nice note - but likely a more complex explanation - including at least a few more factors such as: Performance: Wipro’s performance wasn’t meeting expectations compared to other India-based IT companies and concerns about stagnation persisted. No-confidence: It’s likely that Wipro Chairman Rashad Premji may have lost confidence in Delaporte’s leadership. Culture: Some suggest that as a French-national, Delaporte’s effectiveness was hindered due to cultural challenges. Don’t expect an official statement explaining the true cause of the so-called resignation.
