By importing images of the robot as a base, FreeCAD allows for precise modeling that matches the robot’s existing structure and design. With FreeCAD, designing custom parts becomes more efficient and manageable. Whether for prototyping or full-scale production, this workflow ensures parts are accurate and ready for assembly. 🤖 Robotics Project Update: Talking to Robots! 🎙️ Ever wondered what it’s like to boss a robot around? Well, this summer, I took it upon myself to find out! 1. Manipulator Creation: Started by downloading some SolidWorks models and putting together a robotic arm (manipulator). It was all about precision initially controlled through the command line with exact coordinates. 2. Smooth Control with MoveIt2: Enter MoveIt2, and suddenly controlling this arm became as easy as pie. No more manual input for every tiny movement just smooth, intuitive control. 3. Voice Commands with Alexa: Here’s where it gets fun! I added some intents (actions) to the code and connected the whole setup to Alexa Console. Now, this manipulator listens to human commands! Whether it’s picking up a pen or other simple tasks, it follows through like a pro. This project was a fascinating dive into integrating robotics with voice control, bridging the gap between human interaction and machine precision. Who knew giving commands could be this satisfying?
