Inspiring the next generation of STEM innovators. Edinburgh Science’s Careers Hive transformed the National Museum of Scotland into a STEM hub, engaging 2,061 pupils and teachers from 38 local schools. With our support, students explored careers through hands-on activities like energy efficiency in the Cosy Cosy House. As well as our sponsorship of this exhibit, we also had two colleagues volunteering throughout the week to talk to the students about their pathway into STEM careers; whether traditional or nonlinear. Hear from our Head of Business Development (North), Paul Steen, talking on this initiative and its place in forming a career pathway into heat networks. Igniting curiosity and raising awareness of their growing importance in the UK. You can also explore Edinburgh Science's latest blog post on our support of this engaging initiative: https://bit.ly/3VyVRpj Together, we’re creating a future where young minds are equipped to tackle challenges, innovate solutions, and build a low carbon world.

Happy National STEM Awareness Day! Today, we celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, the critical fields driving innovation, shaping our future, and empowering diverse voices in every industry. STEM is about so much more than just formulas and technology—it’s about creativity, problem-solving, and building a better world. For me, National STEM Awareness Day is also a reminder of the importance of Digital Inclusion and equal access to STEM opportunities for all communities, especially for Native American youth and underserved populations. When we invest in STEM, we unlock potential, create pathways to high-quality jobs, and empower the next generation to tackle some of our world's biggest challenges. Let’s take this day to inspire someone, spark curiosity in our youth, and challenge ourselves to learn something new. Remember, STEM fields aren't just for scientists or engineers. Whether you're a teacher, artist, caregiver, or leader, you can make an impact in STEM—and encourage others to do the same. To all the brilliant minds working in STEM today, thank you for your dedication and resilience. And to everyone else—let’s support, mentor, and celebrate the innovators among us, coast to coast!

'Effective informal STEM programs engage learners intellectually, academically, and emotionally. Effective programs are culturally and socially relevant, curiosity-driven, and help to develop STEM identity. Meaningful formal STEM engagement with learners and their families allows learners to find the researcher or innovator within themselves, opening the gateway to STEM for everyone.' Do you work in STEM? Are you perhaps an educator or part of STEM industry? Maybe you're a learner? Or are you the parent/carer of someone studying STEM subjects? No matter who you are, it's highly likely you will know all about the many challenges we are facing in STEM education, at the Education Academy Scotland (TEAS), so are we. The particular issue of young people entering specific STEM sectors is one where so many of us are working hard to create viable and engaging pathways for young (and older) people to access rewarding and challenging courses and careers. Being even more specific, Scotland's digital sector is one of the many places we need more people going to. If you would like to read about how TEAS is working to provide solutions to this, and many other/related issues, click the link below. Oh, and watch this space for some big news on where we are taking this for year 2... Karen Meechan Nicola Taylor Steven Brown Ronnie Beattie Aileen Hamilton

Smart youth create the foundation for smart societies, but are they truly ready to tackle future challenges? Are they equipped with the skills necessary to be workforce-ready, and do we have effective programs to prepare them for tomorrow’s opportunities? While these questions are easy to ask, addressing them is far more complex, especially when considering the inequalities that persist. Many young people lack equal access to opportunities and may not fully understand what is needed to excel in a rapidly changing world. As businesses, we have a responsibility to bridge this gap by mentoring and providing resources, thus operating as social enterprises that add value to our customers. At Enterprise e-Support, Inc., we believe in the transformative power of knowledge. We are committed to supporting young minds in exploring STEM ideas anywhere and everywhere. Participating in STEAMOLOGY's STEMFest on October 12th was a great opportunity to witness elementary and middle school students engaging in hands-on learning with electricity, chemistry, wave motion, and more. It was encouraging to see FCPS and Mount Vernon leadership supporting these efforts, recognizing the importance of preparing all students for a seamless transition into the future workforce.
