I’m not affiliated with GiveMN , but I’m awestruck by the continued growth of Give to the Max Day across the state of Minnesota. Take a few minutes to check out this impressive case study from their comms agency …
I mean it when I say, and have said for now nine years running, that the potential of giving days is immense and truly limitless. It’s inspiring to see continued investment and innovation in the giving day space, especially knowing the collective impact that days like GTMND have on nonprofits across the state. $37+ million for over 6,500 organizations (!!) — this is a blueprint that EVERY state should be looking closely upon.
2025 is going to be a truly fascinating year in the giving day space. Presidential election years have traditionally dampened philanthropic giving (not to mention the nightmarish economic conditions that we all lived through in 2020), so I’d expect we see significant growth in the sector this year. And to phrase this delicately: macroeconomic factors appear to be favorable to huge companies, which should open up opportunities for bigger sponsorships and match pools. There’s also an enormous segment of the country desperately seeking positive, uplifting news and social content — which giving days are ripe to provide.
I’m blessed to know Jenna Ray from GiveMN and left a conversation with her August fall feeling incredibly impressed by a variety of brilliant innovations their team has implemented over the years. It’s my hope to continue to be a connector, a bridge, and an important building block for the growth of giving days across America this year and for years to come.
I’m not afraid to think boldly about not just what this sector looks like now, but where it can go in the future. I’ve worked hard to build relationships with the most brilliant and influential leaders in the space — I see you, Asha Curran , Kathleen Murphy Toms , Laryssa Hebert , Grace Draper — and have tried to be a sponge in learning from the many inspiring doers that make these days happen — I see you, too, Christina Miller , Kate Harmon , Jody Shields , Lisa LaFleur Schillace …
GiveMN is a shining example of how a giving day can unite a community — in their case, an entire state of nearly 6 million people — around the power of generosity and philanthropy. As I stare down the next decade of my life, I hope to help build collective impacts like that everywhere I’m blessed to work — be it in communities around America, and here in Greenville, South Carolina.
GiveMN partnered with Beehive to amplify the impact of this year’s Give to the Max Day, Minnesota’s statewide giving holiday.
As their communication and media relations partner, we delivered a strategic, high-impact campaign to raise awareness and drive donations. Our efforts contributed to a record-breaking $37.1 million raised for 6,556 local nonprofits and schools.
