Mooring is critical to maritime operations, ensuring vessels remain securely fastened to berths, jetties, or offshore structures. At Vedam, we specialize in delivering Berthing Feasibility Analyses and MEG4 Compliance Checks to uphold the highest safety and operational efficiency standards. These services align with the latest OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG) Rev 4, ensuring adherence to global maritime standards. Our expertise includes performing Safe Design Mooring Breaking Load (SDMBL) calculations using advanced in-house tools and OPTIMOOR software to meet MEG4 requirements. We also conduct comprehensive assessments of mooring equipment such as ropes, chains, bollards, and hooks, validating them against MEG4 specifications for material, dimensions, and strength, and providing corrective recommendations for non-compliance. Additionally, our Berthing Feasibility Assessments evaluate operational limitations for floating units, designing tailored mooring configurations to manage forces and mitigate risks during berthing operations. Leveraging OPTIMOOR, a robust mooring analysis tool, we plan efficient mooring arrangements, assess terminal facilities, and incorporate OCIMF wind and current coefficients specific to tankers and gas carriers. At Vedam, we are committed to delivering engineering solutions prioritizing maritime operations' safety, efficiency, and sustainability. 💡 Decarbonising mooring – Chain removal without the use of an AHV InterMoor, a brand in Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors business line, was contracted by a major operator to remove the platform and installation chain on a floating production unit in ultra-deep water. 📈 The primary objective was to enhance the tieback capability of the floating production unit (FPU). ⛓ InterMoor’s engineers developed a procedure to completely remove the chain without the use of an anchor handling vessel (AHV) or a heavy lift vessel. This was the major advantage of the selected methodology and a major win for the team. As a result, this was a novel methodology that required extensive qualification in great detail. Eliminating the need for a support vessel significantly reduced carbon emissions. ➡️ Read the case study here: https://hubs.ly/Q02J_HSK0 #GOM #ultradeep #IMR #maintenance #mooring

🚨 ANCHOR HANDLING AND ITS RELEVANCE 🚨 As a #surveyor, anchor handling operations are likely to account for most of the #construction support scopes we encounter offshore That's because, anchors are the foundations that bind floating offshore structures to the #seabed Beyond that, Anchor handling involves the deployment, relocation, and retrieval of anchors to secure floating vessels or structures in operations like: 1️⃣ Rig moves 2️⃣ FPSO & SPM mooring 3️⃣ Windfarm installation The other alternatives are #barge operations & pipelay initiation For this to work, there must be: 1. AHT Vessels – These vessels are equipped with powerful winches, shark jaw & bollard pull to handle the heavy load of anchors 2. Surface positioning and Communication Systems 3. Anchors, Chains/Wires & Towing accessories such as Towlines, shackles, and towing pins 🚨 FIELD STEPS 🚨 Anchor handling typically begins with the planning of anchor patterns, considering the seabed conditions, currents, and operational scope. 🚀 Then #mobilization of survey positioning and communication setups. Positioning ensures that the #gps coordinate and heading of the structures and all AHTs involved are precisely determined. Communication is established using network routers running UDP/IP or TCP/IP network protocol with omnidirectional antennas. UDP is often favoured. It is faster but less secure. 🚀 Field Displays of all the necessary display components on all participating structures & vessels follow. These are existing & proposed field structures, anchor drop points, cable out, fairleads offset, AHT tracking information & vessels position. When the structure has been towed close to field, an AHT vessel deploys the anchors at predetermined locations while the structure/barge is still held in-place by other AHTs. The first anchor drop-point encountered (or farthest from existing surface structures) is dropped first. An #AnchorForeman / #MooringMaster coordinates the operation. 🚀 #Accuracy in laying anchors is critical, especially in deep waters and around pipes, where positioning errors can lead to operational hazards. Real-time communication between the barge/structure and AHT vessels ensures the safety and effectiveness of the operation. 🚨 WHY CHOOSE NON-DP OVER DP BARGES? 🚨 🚀 Despite the time-efficiency and navigational flexibility of a self-propelled barge, Non-Dynamically Positioned (non-DP) barges typically cost significantly less to rent than their dynamically positioned (DP) counterparts. The difference is often due to the high-tech systems onboard DP vessels, such as sensors and thrusters, which allow them to maintain precise positioning without the need for anchors. 🚀 Non-DP barges can cost up to 50% less in daily rates. Despite a need for extra tugs, non-DP are more budget-friendly and frankly more stable. Enhancing Construction Safety with WEITE's Tower Crane Anti-Collision System 🛠️ At construction sites, safety is paramount, especially with heavy lifting equipment like tower cranes. WEITE’s innovative Tower Crane Anti-Collision System uses advanced millimeter-wave radar to continuously monitor both sides of the crane arm, calculating the exact distance from obstacles in real time. When the crane moves near other structures or equipment, the system triggers alarms and alerts the operator, preventing potential collisions. 📡 Key Features of WEITE’s Anti-Collision System: • Passive Collision Avoidance: Radar sensors detect and alert on approaching obstacles, ensuring safe crane operation. • Active Collision Avoidance: Ideal for sites with multiple cranes, sensors track crane orientation and hook position, proactively ceasing operations if obstacles are within the set radius. Through wireless data transmission, remote teams can monitor crane operations in real time, supporting a coordinated, safe, and efficient work environment. This system not only enhances on-site safety but also boosts construction efficiency by facilitating proactive, remote management of lifting activities. #ConstructionSafety #TowerCrane #CraneSafety #SafetyFirst #OffshoreCranes #MarineEquipment #CraneMaintenance #Cranes #MonitoringSystem #IndustrialEquipment #Engineering #Safety #CraneCompliance #CraneEquipment #CraneResources #cranecomputer #cranedisplay #LMI #liftingsolutions #rigging #fallprotection #slings #construction #oilandgas #mining #manufacturing #Infrastructure #industrial #marine #offshoreenergy #transportation
