📢 Spreading the word on #EqualResearchDay! To reduce the scientific knowledge gap between male and female bodies, the U.S. start-up Evvy has marked June 10th as #EqualResearchDay. Very simply, there is a research gap in understanding how female bodies need to be treated differently than male bodies. A few key stats: ❌ Women were not included in US clinical trials until June 10th, 1993. Here's the 'why June 10th' answer 😉 💔 On average, clinical trials in cardiovascular and diabetes include only 32% of women (2011-2015) 🙈 Across 183 health interventions most widely used, only 50% reported sex-disaggregated data, offering a way to analyse how the intervention might affect differently male and female bodies (source: McKinsey) #EqualResearchDay is a call for a more gender-sensitive medicine and research, and it's also an interesting signal on how the conversation around #womenshealth is expanding beyond the 'bikini medicine'. Find out more on the www.equalresearchday website! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eskiU7zp You can also review our recent keynote presentation on this very topic, at the Women's Health Equity Forum at the Radical Health Festival Helsinki 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2eEEmmS #beyondbikinimedicine #womenshealthgap #healthequity Roxanne Lavie | Aura Pyykönen | Elsi Haverinen-Mottaghi | Deborah Maufi MD, MBA | Gina Dellios | Kathrin Folkendt | Angela Maas | Anna Butterworth | Women in Pharma (WiP) | Paul Simms | Aline Noizet
