A lot can be done to increase the transparency into the #deeptech funding landscape, especially in the earlier stages. So I'm glad to see a great attempt by First Momentum Ventures, gathering data from 30 different European VCs on expectations for HW first startups to raise capital. Whilst I think the numbers for the Baltics are more modest, it's still a great framework addressing multiple dimensions (team, tech, traction). #MorningRant 📢 #DeepTech is not a sector, it is a characteristic on a venture’s technology stack. I’d like the ecosystem to consider how it labels ventures because it often creates the environment that actually confuses itself. Startupfest hosted the inaugural #HardTechFest which was a great addition to the event. #HardTech always gets a bad rap by investors for being more expensive to commercialize then software. The reality is that practically speaking it is actually less expensive to develop #hardware because there is an incredible amount of non-dilutive funding available for it that is not there for software. Hardware is HARDER however and I appreciate the moat that it develops for itself as a result.

Selected from thousands of international techies at what is fast becoming Europe's must-attend event in the startup calendar, DevAlly co-founder Cormac Chisholm pitched to 14,000 techies alongside the Slush #Top20. Having scaled for six months in the Accelerator, wowing investors and the Irish tech ecosystem with an impressive pitch at October's NDRC Demo Day in Dogpatch Labs, the startup is back to BAU building products to equip the industry ahead of the looming European Accessibility Act.
