The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) classifies businesses as small based on two key criteria: industry type and size standards. Size standards are usually measured in terms of the number of employees or average annual receipts, and they vary by industry. For example, in most manufacturing industries, a business is considered small if it has fewer than 500 employees. However, for some service industries, the SBA sets the threshold based on average annual revenue, which can range from $7.5 million to $38.5 million depending on the sector. By obtaining certifications like SB, DVBE, and DBE, businesses can leverage these classifications to qualify for specific government contracts and incentives aimed at promoting small and disadvantaged enterprises.

Did you know that having a Women-Owned Business Certification can open doors to a world of funding opportunities? Here are three reasons why: 1) The federal government aims to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to women-owned small businesses. With the certification, you become eligible for the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program, giving you an edge over competitors and increasing your chances of winning contracts. 2) Many private corporations and foundations also have diversity goals and set aside funds specifically for women-owned businesses. Having the certification shows that your business has undergone a rigorous verification process, making you a more attractive candidate for funding. 3) The certification also provides access to training and networking opportunities through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. Don't miss out on these benefits - get certified today and take your business to new heights! Until March 31st, we're empowering Women-Owned Small Businesses by partnering with top resources to offer discounted services for certifications. 🎉 Note: You MUST be registered on SAMS.gov to get this support. 📢 Important Update on Commonwealth Corporation Training Grants! 📢 Today, we received news from the Commonwealth Corporation that impacts training grant funding for Massachusetts businesses. Here are the key changes going into effect on November 1st: 📢Express Grant Cap Reduction: The max funding has decreased from $20,000 to $15,000 per business. If you planned to leverage the $20,000, ensure you submit by this Thursday! 📢Maximum Grant Amount: The overall grant cap will be lowered from $200,000 to $125,000. This adjustment could impact larger training programs, so consider submitting applications promptly. 📢Per-Hour Training Rate Adjustment: The reimbursement rate is being reduced from $350 to $300 per hour—an area we hoped might increase but is now heading in the opposite direction. 📢Express Grant Reimbursement for Small Businesses: Now, only businesses with 1-50 employees are eligible for 100% reimbursement; those with 51-100 employees will receive only 50% reimbursement. Lastly, any in-progress grant applications must be completed by November 15th, or they’ll need to be re-submitted after December 3rd due to a brief blackout period. For those affected, feel free to reach out—I’m here to support your application process and help you navigate these changes. Let’s ensure your training needs are met in the most effective way! #CommonwealthCorporation #TrainingGrants #WorkforceDevelopment #EmployeeTraining #Massachusetts
