Yesterday Stagwell reported our Q2 2024 earnings and, WOW, what a quarter it was! And while these results are from Q2, it demonstrates that our strategy of leaning into global collaboration, enhancing digital capabilities, capitalizing on the power of creativity, and rapidly accelerating visibility is WORKING. 🏆 We had a record-smashing $113 million net new business, capped off by our largest new business win in company history with General Motors, led by 72andSunny and Anomaly 🔥⚡️ And as if achieving these results weren’t enough, we’ve also been busy on the M&A front, welcoming 6 new agencies to the Stagwell family to expand our global footprint and sharpen our digital capabilities: SIDEKICK® (U.K.), WNP - Anomaly Alliance What's Next Partners (France), PROS | Creating People Relations (Brazil), Business Traveler (Global), BERA (U.S.) and LEADERS (Israel). 🌎 All of this is further proof that Stagwell is rising to the occasion and making good on our promise to bring the heat as the Challenger Hold Co. Read more about our Q2 earnings in Campaign US who said "Stagwell is muscling its way into larger pitches and winning chunkier pieces of business as it grows its status and reputation in the industry": https://lnkd.in/ewV4jUJH #Stagwell #IronSharpensIron

Some thoughts on US law firm, White & Case LLP's latest #advertising campaign from Grahame Jones, below ⬇️
👇 👇 👇 ZIGGING: Going against the grain. Zigging when others zag. That get’s attention. White & Case LLP (some years ago now) wanted to zig in London. Developed brand building campaign for recruitment. ‘One Person Can Make a Difference’ was brought to life by others who had zigged. Tommy Cooper, Marlene Dietrich, Amelia Earhart, Jacques Cousteau and Bill Shankly all zigged in their successful careers. Sometimes when firms want to stand-out, gotta be brave and zig a little (better still, zig a lot!). #branding #ziggingwhenotherszag #creatingimpact

I’ve joined two clients at offsites in the last week, to review feedback from their clients, partners and employees on their firm’s culture and ways of working. Both firms are set on a growth path and are taking a moment to take stock and ensure they’re ready to drive and manage growth. Reflections that may be useful for leaders across firms: (1) People rarely feel compassion for those they perceive as having more power than themselves. This means if you’re at the top of an organisation, probably no one feels compassion for you, *even when you deserve it*. That’s just part of the job. (2) Showing vulnerability by asking for feedback and then sharing it is a powerful way of breaking through the power divide, and turning ‘us vs them’ into ‘us.’ (3) Hampshire and Sussex are really beautiful :-)

🌟 I am honored to work alongside some great people who are passionate about helping others and making a difference in the community. For the past several weeks, our sales and marketing team at ShareSTAFF has been strategizing and planning our first company-wide initiative. This initiative was collaborative and fun and added some friendly competition between the teams, but it resulted in massive success. I did want to give a special shout-out to some remarkable players from our two-day event who went above and beyond to ensure that we were successful by 124% of the completion goal that we were initially aiming for. 🚀 ⭐ Chauncy Fifer - You led one of the teams, and I appreciated your thoroughness and dedication to gathering information. This led to the implementation of several proposals for our services. Your feedback has enabled our team to develop and work together at each event. ⭐ Selena N. -You made the impossible happen by ensuring that our target market was organized and that we had administrative support throughout the entire process. You even took the initiative to speak directly with customers in person, going above and beyond to make it happen. ⭐ Tee Alarcon - Your creativity and innovation brought some incredible ideas for promoting our brand through the goodie bags you prepared for our clients. The bags included a fun message and our contact information. We appreciate your participation in yesterday's event and your contributions to the conversations that took place. 📢 I wanted to express my gratitude to our branch operations team (Monserrat Bautista, and ALFREDO CALZADA) for participating in our event. They were not only attentive listeners but also actively engaged in conversations with representatives from different companies. It takes a special kind of person to adapt quickly to change, and I must say that our recruiting team did a phenomenal job by staying engaged and effectively presenting the recruitment and onboarding process to our potential clients. We all play a critical role in the success of a company and initiative, and I am happy to be doing this alongside all of you. Cheers to an amazing week, and I look forward to continuing to have many more events like this. I paused after reading this, the 3rd entry from Jeff Pope's “Ten Things I Think I’ve Learned.” I personally have spent most of my Insights career at large companies, and of course I started small (Jeff and Judy’s CRI). To me the leadership and culture—direct and at the top levels—is more important than the size of the company. I love the global reach, R&D power, breadth of offers, etc. that I find at large company Ipsos. But I see Jeff’s point, and am interested in how others see the topic. ************************* For me, it’s been easier to find what I wanted in small companies. I’ve worked for two of the largest organizations in the world (KPMG Peat Marwick and Pillsbury) and two small firms (CRI and Elrick & Lavidge, my first job). Experience in the big companies was valuable, but it wasn’t where I wanted to invest my life. I like life in a small company where you can… * Know everyone’s name * Understand the whole business * Know and see how your contribution makes a difference And working with large, well known clients give us the best of both worlds: we have impact on highly visible products and services, but we get to work within a small company environment.

2024 has been a significant year for Wigley Connect. We have successfully become an independent business while growing our client base, more to follow in 2025… Our business strategy has been formulated with direct input and buy in from the team, giving us defined SMART objectives that we all understand and can deliver against. Change is constant, but through it we have adapted and refined our team, which has brought growth at management level through external recruitment and four internal promotions. These promotions are testament to our commitment to unlocking the potential of our people. Team recruitment has been targeted to focus on the balance of competence and character, a chemistry that ensures the chances we onboard the right people. We continue to invest in the professional development of our team, with many colleagues completing skills-specific courses and training including but not limited to CIMA and ACCA qualifications which will continue in 2025 and beyond. This ongoing investment ensures we are consistently offering an enhanced service offer to our clients both current and potential. Big personal and professional news to share today. I am truly excited to share that today I join L&C NYC as Partner and first Chief Executive Officer. As an immigrant from Hong Kong, I have always been inspired by my parents who left everything behind to provide me with better opportunities in the US. I learned that meaningful change requires us to leave behind the old to make room for the new. Back in 2021, I met L&C co-founders Gian Carlo Lanfranco and Rolo Cordova, and immediately knew we view the world in similar ways. Their diverse backgrounds, living and working in agencies across the globe, give them a unique global perspective in how they think and approach brand and marketing problem solving. I believe that L&C is filling a gap in the industry with their unique mission and humble delivery model, and I’m thrilled to join the agency at such a pivotal moment. Brand building today is complicated, challenging but also exciting. We are witnessing a trifecta of firsts in our marketing ecosystems: 1️⃣ Rapidly evolving economies 2️⃣ An unprecedented acceleration in technology 3️⃣ Unapologetic consumer expectations of brand promise Culture is moving faster than ever before thanks to technology – and therefore winning brands must be courageous and committed to experiment with new ideas at a speed like never before. And unfortunately, the traditional agency model doesn’t allow for the speed and level of innovation modern brands need — and don’t get me started on the costs. At L&C, we are paving the way for future agency models. We’re providing global perspective and nimble production capabilities without sacrificing groundbreaking creative work and top notch craft, and proving that break-through innovation is possible at any budget. If you’re like me, and sick of the traditional approach, reach out and let’s talk more. As my Peruvian friends Gian Carlo Lanfranco and Rolo Cordova say, Vamos! 🚀 Read more about L&C's unique approach to brand building on their website. www.lanfrancocordova.com #brandbuilding #innovation #marketing #agency #L&C #globalperspective #globalsensitivity #advertising #DEI #creativity #immigrants #purposedriven
We're trying a new way to write about the leadership changes across the industry—asking leaders three categories of questions on their career, their new agency/position and the industry. First up? The tech-savvy Steven M. who is leaving Barbarian to join L&C NYC as its first CEO. “You can buy technology. You can buy a data platform. Creativity, you either have it or you don’t have it,” Moy told ADWEEK, adding that when he saw Rolo Cordova and Gian Carlo Lanfranco's work, it made him want to spend less time managing processes and spreadsheets and “really want to go back in the trenches working with the two co-founders to do some really brilliant work.”

Interesting read.
Climbing the corporate ladder was once the cornerstone of the American Dream. But over the last few years, I've been talking to more and more people who no longer aspire to the fancy titles, corner offices, and bigger paychecks that come with a promotion. Many are trying to fly under the radar, desperately hoping they won't get a tap on the shoulder. Others are outright declining promotions. This is a big deal for corporate America. The prospect of becoming senior vice president is what drove so many white-collar professionals to give it their all, even in the face of long hours, soul-crushing meetings, and petty office politics. If the allure of promotions can no longer get everyone to work hard, what will? I try to answer that question in my latest story for Business Insider. I dive into the history of the careerist work ethic in America (it's not as old as you might think!), the research on a phenomenon called "managerial blues," the stories of the promotion-avoiders I spoke to, and more. https://lnkd.in/gZfaMuY9
Nearly half of Americans don't want a promotion
