100 People. Same Culture. Bigger Together. 🎉
Today, Ventrata hits 100 people! While the numbers keep growing, some things remain the same: our energy, sense of freedom and responsibility, and friendships that make our journey so rewarding. From our summer retreats and legendary Christmas parties to disappearing sweets in the office kitchen, we’re still a team that puts people first, colleagues and partners alike. 💛
We love what we do and don’t take ourselves too seriously. To mark this milestone, we made a little video to celebrate! 🎉
Curious how our data analyst feels about the growth? 🎥 👇🏻

. Now. Right now. And they don't kill my my five. We noticed he was getting more confident day by day. Even happy, I'd say. And you don't kill my dad. I'm gonna party until that drop. When I begin, I don't know how to stop party. On to the morning comes. Did you know 12% of people in Venkata consume 90% of the sweets? How did I do it? Easy peasy. 12 out of 118% of the team uses dark mode just to look cool. For a day, I get to live the dream. Perfect statistics. We are a diverse team from 20 countries speaking 14 languages and 50% fluent in at least three. It was perfect for it, but now we are growing. He hasn't been the same since. But the numbers still hold it off for fun. Don't you know what? I'm not here to please, but you're way too dumb to see.
Love seeing how this piece evolved Cole Napper, Ben Zweig and Jin Yan.
"According to the second chart, it was surprising to find out how many traditional HR professionals had people analytics responsibilities as a part of their job responsibilities, rather than having people analytics be a fully dedicated role. "
Here is my hot take regarding the above quote from the piece: This is to be expected and also kind of awesome. It suggests that a sound data orientation is an essential, or at least more common, part of core HR functions, rather than an isolated, occasionally ivory-tower specialty. Do we still need some deep specialists? Sure. But to me, it looks like enormous progress that data savvy is valued in roles across HR.
Also, as Max Blumberg (JA) 🇺🇦 tirelessly points out, People Analytics work is much more powerful when it is tied to business, or at least organizational, outcomes beyond HR. I started doing PA work in the 90's, tying people variables to business outcomes like cycle time, quality, safety, customer retention - "real" business outcomes. I-O psychology has a long history with utility analysis and linkage analyses showing us how we can approach these kinds of questions. There are lots of reasons - both technical and political - why this can be hard to do, but analytics talent that moves between and among these different content stacks is super helpful in figuring out how to overcome the barriers.
👀 Guess what newsletter is back!?!? And with a splash 💦

Check out the analysis we (Cole Napper, myself, and Jin Yan) did about how People Analytics has evolved. Shout out to David Green 🇺🇦, Alexis Fink, and Reyhan Ayas who contributed to these ideas over a year ago. A few findings run counter to some of the narratives around people analytics!

"Night Shift Workplace Diaries"
The gentle hum of the office at night, the soft glow of laptop screens - this is my happy place. As a #Team_Leader for the research analyst night crew at SourceCode I get to experience a unique kind of magic.
While most of the world is tucked away dreaming, we're wide awake and diving headfirst into the fascinating depths of data. Numbers, patterns, and insights come alive in the quiet darkness. It's like being detectives, uncovering clues that could unlock game-changing revelations for entire industries.
Sure, the night shift isn't for everyone. But I thrive in this cozy oasis of concentration. With few distractions, my team and I sync up in a powerful rhythm of analysis and problem-solving. We challenge each other, build on ideas, and geek out over our latest findings like kids in a candy store.
Every breakthrough sparks a rush of adrenaline and fulfillment that goes far beyond just earning a paycheck. We're explorers venturing into uncharted data territories, fueled by curiosity and the hunger to keep learning more.
The path isn't always easy, but that's what makes the rewards so sweet. With each night, we grow more resilient, more innovative, more unstoppable as a team. And looking around at these dedicated night owls, I can't help but feel immensely proud to be a part of this tribe.
So here's to the night shift crew - the unsung heroes who shine their brightest when the world goes dim. Keep exploring, keep discovering, keep making magic happen.
