Last year, while participating in the YLAI Fellowship, one thing stood out to me: almost everything was contactless—from accessing elevators to making payments. This got me thinking about how St. Lucia could benefit from such innovation, especially for business owners who network daily and juggle countless business cards. The common issue? There’s no guarantee your contact will be saved. Inspired, I dove into research and testing, using feedback from my YLAI fellows and friends. After 6 months, I launched Smart Cards in March 2024 along with my sister company Blu Media Prints. These cards simplify networking by eliminating paper business cards, allowing entrepreneurs to share information instantly with just a 'TAP'. Share contacts, Google reviews, social media, WiFi details, websites, and more. I took it a step further and launched Smart Signs, which function the same way. Ready to streamline your networking? Empowering innovation: the kicking off the second smart solution labs! We are thrilled to share the exciting news of the launch of not one, but two innovative Smart Solution Labs, marking the following milestone within the Interreg VI Smart Solution Labs project! These labs serve as collaborative platforms, uniting eight motivated students from both Germany and the Netherlands, representing esteemed institutions such as Hogeschool Saxion, FH Münster, and Westfälische Hochschule. Our collective goal? To ignite innovation and devise ingenious solutions tailored for businesses operating within the cross-border region. With a diverse blend of talents and expertise, our student cohorts have formed two dynamic, intercultural teams, each primed to tackle challenges head-on and drive forward the frontiers of innovation. On Friday, we commenced this exciting journey with an inspiring innovation training session hosted at the rock'n'popmuseum in Gronau. Here, we not only emphasized the importance of team cohesion but also set the stage for what promises to be a fruitful and collaborative endeavor. With the innovation Coach Markus Schwering students tackled the teambuilding challenge of StackMan, as seen in the video. Next on our agenda are the eagerly anticipated kick-off events scheduled at bellanet GmbH and Nijdeken Frees en- Graveertechniek B.V. this week. It's an incredible opportunity for our students to translate their theoretical knowledge into practical applications, working hand in hand with these esteemed companies to bring about tangible real-world impact. If you are interested in joining us and being part as a paid student assistant, make sure to visit our website: https://lnkd.in/epWGskm3 This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the following Interreg partners are participating: the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate and the Province of Overijssel on the Dutch side and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate and Energy NRW on the German side. #SmartSolutionLabs #EmpoweringInnovationBeyondBorders #InterregVI #euinmyregion Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft für den Kreis Borken mbH Verenigde Maakindustrie Oost Hogeschool Saxion FH Münster Westfälische Hochschule Interreg Deutschland-Nederland

The Power Footprint Learning Report is a timely and informative resource that serves as a fresh perspective towards building and nurturing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive ecosystem! Check it out :) WeRobotics
🌟 Excited to co-publish the Power Footprint learning report today with Camber Collective and Disrupt Development . 💡 The idea was publicly launched with a (virtual) ecosystem event at the 2022 Skoll World Forum. We are doubly excited for the opportunity to share this report just in time for the 2024 Skoll World Forum. Over the 2-year journey, we facilitated an extensive exploration of power in the context of international development with over a hundred individuals from international organizations, foundations, development agencies and local organizations such as Ashoka, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and World Vision Switzerland and Liechtenstein, nurturing the Power Footprint to its current stage of development. 🙏 To everyone who contributed their invaluable insights, resources, and support, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We are thrilled to unveil the learnings gathered from diverse stakeholders throughout this odyssey. It serves not only as a retrospective analysis but also as a springboard for charting the course ahead as we release the Power Footprint initiative into the public domain. 🔶 We invite you to download and explore the Power Footprint report now and discover a fresh perspective on power within the development sphere and a case for how international organizations can rewrite the script, becoming true agents of change and building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/dRcmexz3 #PowerFootprint #InternationalDevelopment #DEI

"Many powerful organizations have been insulated from having to interrogate how their power has been used or abused because the conversation remains abstract. The Power Footprint seeks to make it less abstract." Just finished reading this fascinating exploration of a framework for measuring and redistributing power in international development and philanthropy. Well done, Sonja Betschart, and the many minds who contributed to this report! While the entire report is worth a read, here are the observations I found most resonant: 1) The phenomenon of "capacity-building" in international development is uni-directional and laden with inequity. "How capacity is understood and talked about is a reflection of where the power rests. INGO staff have never required capacity training to work in the South but Southern NGOs require capacity to work in their own communities." 2) The catch-22 (and inherent risk) of models that are designed to enhance transparency and accountability, like the Power Footprint, or impact-weighted accounting, or any others that have emerged, is that they require the buy-in on those whose power they are intended to challenge. "An irony emerges, that even in designing innovations such as the Power Footprint to disrupt the status quo, it must be done with the approval of those that often benefit from that status quo – a further manifestation of the Global North power that compels actors to innovate within its rules." 3) As imagined in a more just and equitable future, power is "a facilitator rather than a restrictor." I think this point is so crucial in understanding why something like the Power Footprint is needed – better understanding and measurement of power will inevitably affect how it is distributed and wielded.

Horizon4Poland'24 is a matchmaking event addressed to businesses and the scientific industries. The event's format introduces participants to issues related to the Horizon Europe program, enables them to learn about the Industry Contact Points' offerings, and assists them in finding international partners. As a partner of the Lukasiewicz Research Network, Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskola / EKA University of Applied Sciences participated in the event. The Rector of EKA shared her main insights about collaboration and fostering innovation: ☑️ We have to be brave. We must abandon stereotypes and do things we have never done before. ☑️ The success of research projects and innovation is not always a story about a lack of funding. Sometimes, it is a story about a lack of good projects. ☑️ One of the barriers to successful collaboration is a lack of entrepreneurial skills. #collaboration #project #research #skills

Having spent yesterday at the Techarenan I am amazed how much the Swedish innovation ecosystem has evolved during the past 20 years 😀 When I started to build our innovation support more than 20 years ago I dreamed about what we today see happening, so many players with the aim to enable the growth, so many international contacts and so many experienced entrepreneurs and investors creating value over and over again. Universities play a crucial role in the innovation ecosystem and we, too, need to lean in and innovate on ourselves. I am therefor happy to announce that to create even better opportunities for companies founded at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, KTH Innovation is now opening up for increased collaboration with more actors. "Different companies have different needs. We see a great benefit in being able to find more good matches to create the very best conditions for KTH companies to succeed," says Lisa Ericsson, Head of KTH Innovation. In connection with this new strategic direction, the exclusive partnership with Stockholm Innovation and Growth, Sting, which has existed since 2004, is concluded. Please reach out if you want to connect with us. I will be at Techarenan in our joint booth together with SU Innovation AB and KI Innovations AB or come listen to our panel at Bright Stage at 11:45-12:15 where we talk more on the topic of the role of universities in the ecosystem 😀 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dgVYPVtj #KTHInnovation #ItAllStartsHere #sthlmtech
