🫀🚨Did you know that startup founders are 3x more likely to suffer from a heart attack due to chronic stress and long hours? As early-stage startup founders, we often find ourselves wearing multiple hats—juggling product development, fundraising, team building, and more. It's easy to fall into the trap of neglecting our health in the pursuit of success. However, this approach can be detrimental not only to our well-being but also to the very business we're trying to build. Consider these statistics: - A study by Harvard Business Review found that 72% of entrepreneurs suffer from mental health issues, including anxiety and depression. - Entrepreneurs are 50% more likely to report having a mental health condition compared to the general population. - The World Health Organization estimates that for every $1 invested in mental health, there's a return of $4 in improved health and productivity. Our health is our most valuable asset. Without it, our ability to lead, innovate, and drive our startup forward diminishes significantly. Prioritizing physical activity, balanced nutrition, and mental well-being isn't a luxury—it's a necessity for long-term success. Incorporating regular exercise, maintaining a healthy diet, and taking time for mindfulness are small but impactful steps we can take to ensure we're operating at our best. Remember, a healthy founder leads to a healthy startup. Let’s build our startups without burning out. After all, the success of our business is directly linked to our personal well-being. #Entrepreneurship #StartupLife #HealthAndWellness #MentalHealth #Leadership #startup #venture #founder #Lifestyle #StartupLifeStyle

Starting and growing a startup is no small feat, and I've found that a positive mindset can be a real game-changer. When things don't go as planned, staying positive helps us see challenges as opportunities. For example, when a project fell through last year, instead of obviously dwelling on the loss, I tried looking at what we could learn and how we could improve. This approach not only helped us bounce back stronger but also led to some innovative strategies we hadn't considered before along with self peace. Embracing positivity isn't just about feeling good—it's about unlocking creativity and resilience in your business journey. So even if things didn't turn out the way you wanted them to be, Remember you still have a control over your reaction towards it. And that's makes the difference between winner and a loser. Founder mental health – a topic close to our heart. 🙏💚 This Mental Health Day, CEO Niklas shared his thoughts on the challenges founders face and why prioritizing mental well-being is more important than ever. 👇 Not just Niklas, but our co-founders Sofia and Sérgio are season founders of their own ventures. We’d love to hear your perspectives—how do you navigate mental health as founders? This year’s theme, “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,” resonates deeply with us at Oyama. We believe that mental well-being is at the core of personal and organizational success. 💡 So, we want to open this up to you—our customers and community: How do you maintain mental health in your company? Let’s start the conversation and share strategies that help us all grow, thrive, and support each other. #MentalHealthMatters #FounderMentalHealth #WorkplaceWellbeing #Oyama #EmotionalIntelligence #Resilience Ville Stephanie Sandra Vilma Veera Topias Nici Sanna Tarmo Emilia Hanna Aliisa
Building startups is hard. Freakin’ hard. Do you agree? ⬇ How about being a founder? As I approach my 10-year anniversary as a startup founder, I want to take this year’s World Mental Health Day 💚 to bring attention to a topic close to my heart: founder mental health. A short recap of my entrepreneurial journey: • 2012: In high school, my friend Axel and I applied and secured a grant of €5000. We rebuilt the school gym. • 2015: I started my first company, Mental Link, a marketplace to match people with a psychotherapist. • 2017: I joined Kaiku Health (later acquired by Elekta) as the first hire in Sweden. Got to work closely with the serial entrepreneurs Lauri, Henri. • 2019: I founded Oyama and released a mental health app during the pandemic. Backed by founders Topias and Timo. • 2021: I started Firebird Advisory, my consulting company, currently working with resilient veterans Mika and Tarmo at Siffi and the superwomen Sanna and Henna at Nuanic. • 2024: We announced Oyama’s pivot and launched our second-gen product. Still on this journey with fellow entrepreneurs Sofia and Sérgio. Alongside my ventures, I’ve been fortunate to support fellow entrepreneurs and help build new businesses. For the past decade, I’ve lived and breathed startups. Here’s what I’ve learned about founder mental health: 1. Behind every company is a tenacious entrepreneur who, at times, struggles with their mental health. 2. It’s a constant challenge to balance startup work, life and well-being. 3. Do founders talk about it? Rarely. Some year's ago, we discussed the concept of a “founder wall” in Startup Foundations article by Verneri Välimaa. Should we talk about it? Hell yes. Why? Because by addressing it, we can focus better on our work and create a culture where mental health is seen as a driver of productivity. What do you think? #Entrepreneurship #Startups #MentalHealth #FounderLife #WorldMentalHealthDay #Leadership #Productivity #WorkLifeBalance #Oyama #Resilience #FounderMentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #StartupCommunity #Pivot

Is the wall too high? In the dynamic landscape of entrepreneurship, the spotlight often shines on the triumphs and innovations of startup founders. 😶However, behind the scenes lies a less-discussed but equally crucial aspect: the #mentalhealth of these visionary leaders. The journey of building a startup is fraught with challenges, uncertainties, and immense pressure, all of which can take a toll on one's mental well-being. As we navigate through the intricacies of the startup ecosystem, it becomes imperative to acknowledge, prioritize, and support the mental health of founders. 👉The Myth of the Invincible Entrepreneur ! The pervasive narrative of the invincible entrepreneur, fueled by stories of relentless hustle and overnight success, can inadvertently perpetuate unrealistic expectations and stigma surrounding mental health struggles. Founders may feel compelled to project an image of unwavering strength, fearing that vulnerability could be perceived as weakness or incompetence. However, this facade often masks the silent battles waged within, leading to burnout, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. ❤️ Pia Singh is someone who keeps her vulnerabilities and strength both at the core of her being. That's courage! 👇 MindSmith Learnings To foster a culture of support and prioritize mental health within the startup ecosystem, we must challenge the stigma surrounding vulnerability and seek to normalize conversations about well-being. Founders, investors, employees, and stakeholders alike must recognize that prioritizing mental health is not a sign of weakness but rather a testament to resilience and self-awareness. 👉Encourage founders to carve out time for activities that nourish their mind, body, and soul, whether it's practicing mindfulness, exercising, or spending quality time with loved ones. 👉Promote open dialogue and destigmatize seeking professional help by connecting founders with mental health resources, such as therapists, support groups, and helplines. 👉Empower founders to establish boundaries around work commitments, delegate tasks, and prioritize their own well-being without guilt or fear of judgment. 👉 Foster a growth mindset and resilience by reframing setbacks as learning opportunities, celebrating small wins, and fostering a supportive community of peers. In the fast-paced world of startups, the mental health of founders is not a luxury but a fundamental pillar of sustainable success. #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthawareness #startuplife #startupecosystem #founders #womenempoweringwomen #mindsmith Manisha Aggarwal 🧠 Dr. Satyen Sharma Ishan Sharma Nikhil Gaur Seher Vaderaa
