As I hit the road for #FedSupernova today, I’m bringing more wisdom from my 6-year-old (the one with the strong mullet game in the picture). 🚀 Yesterday was the first day of school in San Antonio, and my son’s school has a reward system where kids earn “Bird Bucks” for living up to the school's core values. We asked Jackson what he’d want if he earned enough “Bird Bucks.” His answer? “I’m going to save mine to have lunch with the principal!” Me: “That’s cool! Is she really nice to you?” Jackson: “Well, I don’t really get to talk to her, but if we have lunch together, she’ll know I’m nice and we can be friends.” Me: “Why do you want to be friends with the principal?” Jackson: “Well…then we can help each other make the school better…and maybe she’ll let me get extra ice cream!” 🍦 Turns out, my 6-year-old already understands #networking! Sure, the ice cream angle might be a little self-serving, but hey, we all have room to grow! But, he knows that they have a common goal of making the school better and he wanted to see if they could work together…I’m guessing they would have different approaches, but bringing different things to the table likely makes for a stronger team! I’m excited to expand my network this week in Austin, TX at the Capital Factory! 🎉 What a week at Red Hat Summit 2024! ⭐️ This conference was extra special for a few reasons: ✅ Both Jason Rahm and I got to attend this one together. Jason has been deep in the Community at the F5 Academy events in North America as well as User Group events as he helps the Community get ready for BIG-IP Next. It was great to be able to join up at this event as just being around him makes me smarter. ✅ I love that Red Hat is big on Community and F5's presence was situated by Red Hat's Community area. I've been using the word "democratization" a lot lately because there a number of barriers (sometimes real, sometimes mental barriers) to people furthering themselves. Things like InstructLab make it possible for everyone to learn with a very low barrier to entry. F5 DevCentral shares that common goal. ✅ AI but real. For quite some time now, we've seen a lot of "AI washing" and companies announcing basically nonsense while calling it AI. Last week, we got to see real use cases around various industries, through manufacturing, agriculture, and advanced enterprise IT productivity. The future is promising. F5 will be there to secure it, too. 🏓 This is going to be out of order but there are more videos to come. Including one entirely about pickleball. Just trying to figure out how to make it appear work related so my boss doesn't fire me. 🤔 Thanks to the colleagues, partners and friends that I saw last week. Some folks that I hadn't seen for a full year, or some I hadn't even met in person, which was great!
