Reflecting on my journey in information management, particularly as I navigate through my current role on a Sellafield project, I couldn't help but recall a pivotal moment from 2011/2012. Back then, while serving as a Document Control Manager for the SDP project at Sellafield, I was tasked by Nicolas Dansette and Andrew Maguire with a significant challenge: to define a project delivery process that not only involved all stakeholder disciplines but also spanned the entire project lifecycle, from tender to handover. Fast forward to today, and I find myself in a remarkably similar situation, discussing and reviewing completions and commissioning activities as part of project closeout on Sellafield projects. What struck me was the realisation that the process I developed over a decade ago still resonates with my current approach. Even more validating is how this process aligns almost perfectly with ISO 19650 standards and the expectations of the client and delivery teams. This is a testament to the forward-thinking approach we adopted back then. It's not often I take a moment to reflect on past achievements, but this has reminded me of the importance of a logical approach and its lasting impact when deployed on projects. Our industry has evolved, with ISO 19650 setting the benchmark for managing information over the entire life cycle of a built asset. To see my work from 12 years ago naturally align with these standards is both humbling and affirming. I'd love to hear from others: how have you seen industry standards influence project management practices over the years? Have your early career innovations stood the test of time as well?

In KSA, over 60% of project delays stem from managing methods, by change order requests, with subsequent delays amplified by original delay management strategies. Implementing an effective project management plan has the potential to mitigate a significant portion of these delays, fostering smoother project execution.
