Thank you for using your online presence to raise awareness of this issue, Robert L. Sumwalt. The FAA addressed portions of this topic in January 2021 in a report titled "Effects of Airplane Cabin Interiors on Egress I: Assessment of Anthropometrics, Seat Pitch, and Seat Width on Egress." The report is available to the public on "rosap", the U.S. DoT's repository and open science portal. The demographics and anthropometrics section (p. 41) discusses the use of local residents around the Oklahoma City area, which were "typically larger, heavier, and can be assumed to be slower than the average U.S. population." The study found positive correlations between passenger age/size and their evacuation times; the older/larger participants took longer. Surprisingly, the various seat pitches used in the study did not pose a statistically significant change in egress times. The study did not account for passenger carry-on baggage issues, an increase in the number of ambulatory-limited passengers onboard, or the complications of post-crash fire scenarios that limit survivability within the cabin; all of which are relevant factors in today's aviation environment.

Aircraft certifications standards for airliners require that passengers can evacuate in 90 seconds. Are those standards adequate? Congress says Federal Aviation Administration needs to revisit. Kris Van Cleave covers the story today on CBS Mornings. Produced by Kathryn Krupnik. https://lnkd.in/eRBthWRf

Boeing’s latest World Air Cargo Forecast (WACF) anticipates major growth in air cargo traffic, projecting an annual increase of 4% through 2043. With air cargo demand now surpassing pre-pandemic levels, Boeing expects the global freighter fleet to expand from 2,340 airplanes in 2023 to 3,900 by 2043. This growth is driven largely by rising e-commerce, shifting supply chains, and strong demand from emerging markets, particularly in Asia.

Making jokes about bombs on airplanes is strictly forbidden, though many are unaware that this is explicitly outlined in the law. It is important to spread awareness so more people understand the seriousness of this issue and refrain from joking about bombs, particularly during flights. Would love to know your perspective on this! Write in the comment below.

As we resume operations in Washington and Oregon, we are following a comprehensive process to reactivate airplanes that were in short-term storage. This is part of our efforts to conduct a safe and orderly restart to airplane production and deliveries in the Pacific Northwest, with our team using our Safety Management System as a guide. Watch the video to learn more as we continue to prioritize safety and quality.

The Hindenburg was the largest airship ever built, stretching longer than three Boeing 747s. But it tragically ended in flames in 1937. Now, #airships are making a comeback... ✅ Airships promise the speed of air freight with dramatically lower costs and direct door-to-door delivery. ✅ They'll be able to go anywhere. ✅ And they'll use 75% less fuel than cargo planes, which means cheaper shipping and cleaner air. I explain it all in my latest Rational Optimist Society Diary: https://lnkd.in/eZm2u-Za

Lesson 2: Failure is an unavoidable pit stop on the journey to excellence. If you want to be truly exceptional, expect to fail BIG. On the other side of failure is growth... and many crashed RC airplanes. This is part 2 of a 5-part series. Come back tomorrow for part 3... Or watch my full mini-documentary linked in the comments.

🚨 Breaking News: 300 Boeing manufactured airplanes have a fuel tank flaw that could cause an explosion 🚨 ❗⚠️ Immediate Threat: Boeing 777s in the US, primarily operated by American Airlines and United Airlines, are potentially at risk. 🔩 Proposed Fix: 🛠 Install electrical bonding and grounding. 🛠 Use new fasteners in the cover plate assembly. 🛠 Revise maintenance and inspection protocols. 🛠️ Cost to Fix: Estimated at $697,296 for US operators. 📣 Boeing’s Response: 🔺 Claims no immediate safety threat. 🔺 Cites multiple redundancies in aircraft design. 🔺 Highlights nearly 30 years of safe operation and over 3.9 billion passengers flown. 🤔 Is this just a tragic coincidence or a sign of deeper issues? The aviation industry must answer tough questions. ✈️ 🛑 #aviation #airline #boeing #travelnews #breakingnews #TripMe
