“Don't you see the starlight, starlight Don't you dream impossible things” 🎤 “Starlight” by Taylor Swift We hosted our internal company event for our US and European teams in Las Vegas last week. We called it “Cohesion” because it was all about making connections and sharing our next phase of our vision. There was nothing more powerful in capturing the future of #CustomerSuccess than the panel of 4 executives who were kind enough to join us. The group included several 4-time Gainsight clients. And our Chief People Officer, Robin Merritt, masterfully navigated the conversation. I was furiously taking notes and took away these 6 lessons: 💻 Increasingly, CS leaders have stopped trying to just “throw people to the problem” and instead are investing in a digital-first motion. 💥 Companies are, in the same vein, expanding the scope of community beyond mere “support deflection” to best practice sharing, product insights and connections. In this way, community is becoming a core part of a digital-first CS strategy. 💪🏾 Chief Customer Officers are increasingly owning the community strategy, versus the older approach of advocacy-only communities led by Marketing or technical-only communities led by Customer Support. 🤦🏽 In talking about competing and Gainsight competitors, one panelist remarked “another vendor in the sales process started at a very high price and then dropped it to almost free and it made me wonder why they are so desperate and scared me off. I was worried about working with a company that might not be around.” 👎🏼 “Thinking that an enterprise software product can work across an organization without an internal operational owner is complete BS!” [we certainly allow swearing now at Gainsight…] ❤️ “Every CS leader wants to be associated with the Gainsight product, community and brand.” So grateful to Eva Klein, Angel Rogers, Nisha Baxi and Erica Kuhl for the discussion and to Robin for moderating it.
