What do veterinarians and bookkeepers have in common? Pathological perfectionism is probably a valid answer, but we’ll save that for another post! The answer we’re looking for is that each is an expert in their respective fields. Veterinarians are best suited to diagnose, treat, and perform surgery on a pet, while bookkeepers are wizards with finances. As veterinary bookkeeping experts, our team has highly specialized knowledge and skills to keep your finances in order. We take the burden of bookkeeping off your plate so you can focus on doing what you do best: veterinary medicine. How has having a bookkeeper reduced the burden on your administrative team? Let us know in the comments below!

World Renowned Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Kei Hayashi, spent a day at the College presenting at a Dean's Seminar for Excellence on his years of research work on treating and preventing canine cruciate rupture. Dr Hayashi is a passionate clinician, researcher and educator, and most of all a very dedicated veterinarian. He is an outstanding role model for all of us - as a veterinary surgeon, he saw a clinical problem that needed to be resolved and dedicated his research time to address it. A true clinician scientist ! There are so many unanswered problems in veterinary and human medicine. We need clinicians who recognize the gap in medical knowledge to tackle the research/discovery to find the solutions and improve the practice of medicine #Lifechangingresearch

To my fellow vets and aspiring students, let's talk career strategy: In a field as broad as veterinary medicine, it's easy to feel lost in the crowd. That's where niche expertise comes in. Think about it: Instead of being "just another vet," you become THE expert in, say, feline cardiology or reptile surgery. Pet owners seeking that specific care will travel to see YOU, and other vets will trust you with their referrals. Whether it's exotic pet medicine, equine dentistry, or avian behavior, focus on something you're passionate about. This does several things: 1. Builds Your Reputation: You become the 'go-to' person for that specific need. 2. Attracts Referrals: Other vets will send you cases, expanding your network. 3. Commands Higher Fees: Specialized skills are valuable, allowing you to charge more. 4. Fuels Your Passion: Work becomes even more rewarding when you're truly engaged. Find your niche, invest in continuous learning, and watch your career soar! P.S. I am also doing the same - nephrology is something I am particularly interested in and will be talking more about it in my upcoming posts. #TheMentorVet #VeterinaryMedicine #CareerAdvice #Specialization

But, I should be able to take my dog to hydrotherapy/physiotherapy without my vets permission! Here’s why we require Veterianry Consent… Veterinary referral is required before starting physiotherapy or hydrotherapy for your dog to ensure the safety and appropriateness of the treatment. Here’s why: 1. Accurate Diagnosis: A vet’s referral ensures that the underlying condition has been properly diagnosed. Some issues may require medical intervention, surgery, or specific precautions before starting physical therapy. 2. Safety: Certain conditions (e.g., fractures, infections, or heart problems) may worsen with improper exercise or therapy. A vet can confirm if your dog is fit for physiotherapy or hydrotherapy. 3. Customized Treatment Plan: A referral provides the therapist with detailed information about your dog’s medical history, diagnosis, and any contraindications, allowing for a tailored and effective treatment approach. 4. Legal and Ethical Requirements: Veterinary referrals are mandatory to ensure that therapies are performed under the guidance of a licensed professional. 5. Monitoring Progress: A referral allows the vet and therapist to work together, monitoring your dog’s progress and adjusting treatment as needed. In summary, the referral ensures your dog receives safe, effective, and evidence-based care. 📍Nether Heyford NN73LB #JointCareForDogs #DogMobility #CanineFitness #HealingWithHydrotherapy #PuppyPhysio #ActiveRecoveryForDogs #SeniorDogCare #postsurgeryrecovery #clairefordvetphysio

As an extension of the way we consider pets to be members of the family just like humans, we should advocate for a human-level standard of medical care in the veterinary space. One individual who subscribes whole-heartedly to that theory is VetOvation founder Les Meadowcroft, who spent over 20 years introducing minimally invasive equipment and techniques in human medicine and ultimately decided to create an equivalent laparoscopic bundle, that would make it easy for veterinarians to set up and learn minimally invasive surgery. This equipment enables animal health professionals to do surgery faster, reduces patient blood loss, and improves recovery time.
