These guidelines create a powerful platform for SEPTA to advocate for, collaborate on, and lead land use, zoning, and development projects, enabling more people to live and work near SEPTA's services. The Avenues Plus project at Duke Street and John Knox Street has begun. This is the latest in the series of major public realm transformation works in and around the city centre, with this being part of the £21 million Avenues Plus programme, funded through the Scottish Government via Sustrans' Places For Everyone programme. https://brnw.ch/21wPZaB

The new East West Rail route will better connect communities between Oxford and Cambridge and supercharge growth.   With a brand new station at Tempsford, the line will support the growth of a new community and provide better access to opportunities across the region.

This is being hailed as a major milestone for public transport and bus service reform. In theory if this did actually result in better services in all areas, not just profitable routes, it would be real plus for communities. However, we are also constantly being warned about a financial black hole in government finances so serious that OAPs are losing their winter fuel allowance, and local authorities effectively going ‘bankrupt’. Hopefully this will not be another area for significant cuts to current funding. Buses and drivers are not going to be any cheaper to run and employ.

Exciting news in Houston! FTA has awarded the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County $1.2 million to plan for transit-oriented development along its proposed Gulfton Corridor bus rapid transit line. The federal funding will help METRO identify locations for future mixed-use development, devise strategies to enhance transit access in underserved communities, and assess community infrastructure needs, such as repairs to sidewalks, crosswalks and traffic signals. bit.ly/FY24TOD
