📣 What would be the next Game Changers for Dubai? 📣 Dubai is always at the forefront of innovation, so predicting the next game changer there can be quite exciting. One plausible game changer could be the further development and implementation of futuristic technologies like autonomous transportation systems. Dubai has already shown interest in this area with projects like the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy aiming to transform 25% of the total transportation in Dubai to autonomous mode by 2030. Another potential game changer could be advancements in sustainable infrastructure and green technology. Dubai has been increasingly focusing on sustainability and environmental conservation, with initiatives like the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy aiming to provide 75% of Dubai's energy from clean sources by 2050. Innovations in renewable energy, waste management, and eco-friendly construction could significantly shape Dubai's future landscape. Additionally, the continued growth and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and smart technologies could revolutionize various sectors in Dubai, from healthcare and education to tourism and hospitality. Overall, the next game changer in Dubai could likely involve a combination of advanced technology, sustainability initiatives, and innovative urban planning strategies to further establish the city as a global leader in innovation and development.

What if the key to saving our planet is right in our hands? Here in the UAE, innovation is everywhere. From smart cities to cutting-edge technologies, we’re constantly pushing boundaries. But as we move forward, we must ask: can digital technology truly help us build a sustainable future? The Royal Society’s report, Digital Technology and the Planet: Harnessing Computing to Achieve Net Zero, gave me plenty to think about. Here’s what stood out: Imagine this: Nearly 30% of the carbon reductions we need by 2030 can come from technologies already in use. Think about AI optimizing energy grids or digital twins modeling entire cities to reduce waste. These aren’t futuristic concepts—they’re tools shaping our world right now. But there’s a flip side: The digital sector itself contributes 2-3% of global CO₂ emissions, on par with aviation. So while we rely on technology to cut emissions, we also need to make sure our tools are green and efficient. It’s a balance we can’t ignore. Here in the UAE, we’re leading the charge. Initiatives like the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategy are setting global benchmarks. With strong data systems and innovative solutions, we’re redefining what’s possible. But none of this happens without action—action driven by skills, collaboration, and vision. The question is: what’s next? Globally, we’ll need over 150 million digital experts by 2025 to power this shift. That means investing in people, empowering communities, and thinking bigger than ever before. This isn’t just about tech or numbers—it’s about us, our choices, and the legacy we want to leave. Absolutely thrilled to share my experience from the Dubai Tech Talks' inaugural "Dubai Sustainability Talks". It was an evening filled with inspiring discussions and meaningful conversations about our collective journey towards achieving the SDGs2030. The event, hosted by Digital Value Stream, featured powerful insights from leaders in sustainability. Adrienne Doolan kicked off the evening with a powerful message on the urgency of achieving the SDG goals, emphasizing that we can drive positive change for a better future. Vikram Krishna and Monisha Krishna emphasised forest conservation through their Sacred Groves venture where they came up with a very unique way to conserve forest by giving people the opportunity to become guardians of a piece land in a forest. They have tokenised the land and it can be monitored using geospatial data and satellite imagery. The whole thing is fully transparent as it is done on a blockchain. Muhammad Danbappa highlighted how Ehfaaz is pioneering circular economy solutions with its innovative closed-loop resource recovery system, significantly reducing waste management costs and environmental impact while creating new value from unwanted materials. Ritika Angrish demonstrated how corporates are embracing repurposed interiors to promote sustainability, fostering a culture of creativity and environmental responsibility. Purva Grover emphasized the vital role of kids and youth in achieving the SDGs, encouraging eco-friendly habits and community engagement to inspire lasting change. Raisa Mariam Rajan showed us how art can contribute to sustainability by using eco-friendly materials and upcycling waste, blending creativity with environmental awareness. The passion shared by these speakers was incredibly motivating. It reinforced my belief in the power of collective effort and innovation in driving sustainability. The exhibition highlighted the latest technologies in energy, water, clean and renewable energy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, smart and sustainable cities, green mobility, and much more. WETEX is more than just an exhibition; it’s a powerful platform that brings the global community together to turn possibilities into realities. 🚀 Some remarkable highlights included: *EMPOWER, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, reaffirming its commitment to help governments worldwide achieve sustainability. **The inauguration of the 26th edition of WETEX by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, emphasizing Dubai's leading role in the green economy. ***The signing of a groundbreaking agreement between Dubai Airports and Etihad ESCO to implement the world’s largest rooftop solar panel project at an airport. ****Innovative solutions showcased in the Green Mobility Hall, featuring sustainable transport technologies. I’m proud to have been part of this significant event and to witness DECO’s commitment to advancing sustainable solutions.
