The seminar on challenges for ports and shipping in the transition to fossil-free operations took place last week in Stockholm, Sweden. ⚓🚢🟢🇸🇪
Organized by CLOSERse, IVL, Umeå Kommun, Umeå Hamn AB, Umeå Energi AB and INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB as part of the Blue Supply Chains project, it explored future possibilities for sustainable fuels in maritime and port operations and ways to support the transition to fossil-free fuels such as #methanol, #hydrogen, #biogas, electricity and #ammonia. 🔋⚡🌱
🎤 “It is very important to look at shipping as part of the climate transition that we are facing in the transport sector. There is a lot to get to grips with, many different actors who have to do their part, you have to work together to get results and allow for development to move forward,” said Pia Bergdahl, Transport Analysis, attending the event.
🎤 Participants also had the opportunity to listen to Linda Styhre & Karl Jivén from IVL, who shared insights on the future of marine fuels. They explored topics such as environment, technology, economy and infrastructure, with a special focus on the Swedish strategy for bunkering and charging of ships.
With visitors from shipping companies, energy companies, ports, authorities, politicians, researchers, technology developers and a variety of other actors in the industry, the project received a lot of good input!
