What do 1.37 million cornering events reveal about rural road safety? 🚗 Using connected vehicle data, Vianova I/O analyzed cornering risks on rural roads in Calvados, France, uncovering patterns tied to speed, time of day, and road conditions. Here’s what we discovered: 📊 With 1.37 million cornering events analyzed, nearly 60% occurred on department-managed roads, with higher severity rates than national highways. 🚨 39% of events were severe, with left turns and speeds over 70 km/h posing the greatest risks. 🌙 Severe events were 22% more likely at night or early morning, with wet conditions having less impact than expected.
