What do 1.37 million cornering events reveal about rural road safety? 🚗 Using connected vehicle data, Vianova I/O analyzed cornering risks on rural roads in Calvados, France, uncovering patterns tied to speed, time of day, and road conditions. Here’s what we discovered: 📊 With 1.37 million cornering events analyzed, nearly 60% occurred on department-managed roads, with higher severity rates than national highways. 🚨 39% of events were severe, with left turns and speeds over 70 km/h posing the greatest risks. 🌙 Severe events were 22% more likely at night or early morning, with wet conditions having less impact than expected. Did you know that 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 are the most common crash type along highways, at roundabout approaches, and on highway ramps? Use this #interactive #map to learn about other common crash types on Canberra’s roads, and share your ideas on how to reduce these numbers in the comments section below - https://lnkd.in/g-TN_hyC 🛣️ I believe that knowing common crash types can help drivers understand the dangers to watch out for. While it's crucial to enhance accident-prone areas with #traffic measures, raising #awareness among drivers about potential dangers can contribute to making our #roads #safer. 𝐹𝑜𝑟 𝑒𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒 🚗---🚗 Give enough space to the vehicle in front along highways to reduce the number of rear-end collisions. 🔄-🛣️ When approaching roundabouts and highway ramps, make sure there is no vehicle stopped in front of you to reduce the number of rear-end collisions. #RoadSafety #ACTGovernment #Transport #Accidents #VisionZero #Canberra #CBR #PolicyMap #ArcGIS #Esri
