I love approaching life gamefully! One of the reasons? It is because, when I am not motivated and resist engaging in an activity I want to pursue, I don’t berate myself, or at least not long, but instead treat myself as a game designer would his or her best and most trusted game-tester. If the gamer does not engage, something is wrong with the game. Summer games! ☀️During holidays you can test new games ideas with your friends. ⛴️In deep sea adventure, you are trying to collect treasures from the bottom of the sea. You share a scarce resource with the other players: oxygen. 👀Insider is a secret identity game where the traitor tries to help the other player discover a word without being detected. 💡These two games are small enough to fit in any luggage. They have very refreshing rules coming from Japanese game designers. And when September comes you can join an online session with us to discover what they bring as a serious game! If you want other game ideas to play with you family and friends, leave us a comment with your question. #seriousgame #gamification

A lot of people say that video games are soooo long now - is this true? 😉 The whole debate kinda misses the point. It’s not about how many hours a game demands, but whether it keeps you hooked. Some say games with long narratives ARE long, but then happily sink hundreds of hours into stuff like Diablo or Dota 2 without a second thought (I personally have ~500 hours in Path of Exile so I can relate). Funny, right? The thing is, a game only feels like a marathon if it's boring you. If it keeps you on your toes, excited to see what's next, you're not gonna complain about it. When people are excited about a game being "just the right length," what they're really saying is it never gave them a chance to get bored. A game could go on forever, but if it’s fun, who’s counting? Instead of focusing on trimming content or reducing playtime, the industry should prioritize creating more engaging, thought-provoking, and innovative experiences. Only then can we move beyond the superficial debate over game length and address the issue at hand: crafting games that are truly worth our time and attention. ❤️ What made me to expand on this thought: https://lnkd.in/dwYkvqgU And the pic - me playing in the Riga Video Game Museum ^_^ #gamedev #insights #games

There's much you could say about Concord, and a lot about AAA at large, but I find much of it distills to this: People play games to feel. Sometimes to have their worldviews widened, make themselves feel more competent, and sometimes just to rest after work. People are highly attuned to how games makes them feel. Your game is, fundamentally, a piece of emotional artistry. And if players can't feel the hearts who made your game - they won't give you theirs'. #gamesindustry #gamingtrends #gamedesign #concord

Recently, with my friends, we discussed who plays which games. When someone asks me about my favorite games, I always think of games with well-developed plots and complex mechanics, like Baldur’s Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, or Fallout. But do you know which game I’ve played the most? It’s “The Binding of Isaac.” At first glance, it’s a simple game with unpretentious graphics and mechanics, yet its dynamism and replayability keep drawing me back again and again. I play it to reduce stress, relax when I only have 30 minutes, and each time, I discover something new. Everything about this game fascinates me: the history of its creation, the project’s development, the infinite combinations of abilities and visual skins, the religious foundation of the plot, and the countless challenges. Even after all these hours, I still don’t have all the achievements. But I think, in this case, it’s just me… The main conclusion I reach every time I play it is that simplicity can be powerful. Complex projects and solutions aren’t always the most effective. Sometimes, a simple idea, crafted with attention to detail and a deep understanding of your audience, can achieve much more. And this isn’t only about games. Which games do you return to from time to time? What about these games keeps you hooked? #GameDesign #Simplicity #Creativity #IndieGames

https://lnkd.in/dsitcgFt I found this article from Gameopedia to be very relatable. I find myself often craving to play some games, but will sit there staring at my games trying to figure out what I want to play. I am merely looking for a game that will help me become stimulated, however, I never thought of it from a, "what's my vibe right now?" point of view. This is the best way to explain why my 152 game library is full of games from different genres, it's because I play based on my vibe. This is also why streaming can be challenging for me, as my vibe can change depending on my mood. I really loved this article as it can help myself and fellow Neurodivergents with figuring out what we want to play, and to know we have options. For example, lately I've been finding myself more in a creative and chill vibe. I'll play my action, sports, and adventure games for a short while as I struggled to be stimulated, and had no idea why. However, now it makes sense..those games weren't aligned with my vibe at that moment. Due to how I was feeling, this is where Powerwash Simulator, Jurassic World Evolution, the Sims 4, or even the Police Simulator could have been better options. Let's spend more time gaming with how we are currently vibing, and this could help us avoid burnout. What am I feeling today? Honestly, I've been craving some creative vibes, so, I'm going to focus on Sims 4, Powerwash Simulator, Jurassic World Evolution, or Police Simulator. #mentalhealth #gaming #healthygaming

The best #productivity #games to help you #stay on #track If you feel me, and I know many of you do, you may already know about productivity games. These games encourage you to complete tasks, progress on projects, and maintain good habits with plenty of tried-and-true coping mechanisms, all masked under a cloak of cute creatures, customization, and relaxing music. But there are tons of productivity tracking games out there that prove to be more of a hindrance than a help. Some are so engaging that they're actually distracting, some are full of ads, and others simply fail at the most important element of a good productivity game: https://lnkd.in/dkb8k392 #opinion #personalcomputer #Polygonselections #whattoplay

In Game Design, we use personas to specify target audience(players) and their behaviors for our games. We can call their journey as Player's Journey(in games) or Hero's Journey(mostly in literary language). Here is Player's(My) Journey in Shadow of War game. You can easily understand the phases. If you have a question you could ask! Monolith Productions (WB Games)

How you play games is how you do everything? Recently came across a video with such a title (link will be below), and it got me thinking. The creator reflects on how his tendency to start games enthusiastically but then lose interest mirrors their approach to life, where he struggles with commitment and focus. He realizes that his actions in games, such as rushing through content or constantly switching interests, reflect larger patterns in life, like being overly focused on goals or burning out on projects. What resonated with me was the emphasis on mindfulness and attention to detail. The idea is that by making small changes in our daily lives, we can influence the bigger aspects of our lives. Learning to enjoy the process of playing a game rather than just focusing on achieving the end result can teach us to be more present and content in everyday situations (I'm the kind of person who will grind every achievement in a game, even if it doesn't make any sense and takes longer than the gameplay itself, so I understand exactly how much effort this kind of thinking will cost me haha). Of course! The game ≠ life. This doesn’t mean we have to do everything perfectly, but it’s important to understand how our approaches to small things can affect our lives overall. It’s an interesting way to rethink habits and behaviors - are they truly serving us in the long run?
