Victorian Building Authority’s Post

Today’s Herald Sun has the story on the suspension of Melbourne builder Andrew Donald Little, of ADL Home Building & Construction. The VBA alleges 58 grounds for the suspension, including: • failing to include fire safety measures in designs • taking money for domestic building work without domestic building insurance • leaving building owners with a non-compliant building requiring significant remediation. Little is appealing the suspension to VCAT. That's great that another dodgy one has been stopped, but how the hell did he get away with it for so long? Are you questioning the building Inspectors involved?

Great news VBA knocking them off one at a time

In Texas you can build a home as crappy as you want to But the building can’t fall down If the building falls down then you are in trouble One fella built an entire subdivision so poorly roofers refuse to put new roofs on because the roof has collapsed on the workers before Homeowners can’t get anything for those houses Some buyers have bought the house for the lot then tore down the house Still the subdivisions reputation is so bad even a new house is tainted with the reputation The wall studs are four feet apart Just enough to keep the Sheetrock from falling down The roof is crazy bad I think they braced up the roof to build it then removed the supports Same guy tried to build another subdivision with even less materials but the houses collapsed and he went to prison I don’t know if the prison part is true I had a friend that owned one of those houses I was in awe about how bad the house was In America there are lots of places like that You cannot assume a house is properly built outside California or New York Both states have the highest building standards in America past them good luck

A shame that it took an independent private contractor inspection ( Zeher K. ) to get action. VBA inspections must be more thorough to catch the cowboys!

Hi TJ, the VBA investigation is continuing. Thank you

I’m glad to see the Victorian building authority investigating and suspending these Rogue Contractors, but what about the tradesmen on large apartment buildings? I think there’s some dodgy builders/contractors on these sites also. VBA/VCAT need to do more to protect all parties involved.
