Don’t be too FIXATED on landing a CORE data role. If you are struggling to land your first data job then, FOCUS on getting these roles first: - Data entry specialist - Marketing analyst - Data administration - Operations Analyst - HR Analyst We call it “data-adjacent” roles.✨ Then double down on it. Bring a lot of data rigour to that role. Build domain knowledge. Look for internal transfers.

If you’re working on your resume, please don’t list your experience from your first job to your most recent. For example, avoid this format: 🚫 Sales Rep (April 2017 to August 2019) 🚫 Data Analyst (August 2019 to May 2021) 🚫 Recruiter (May 2021 to Present) Instead, your resume should look like this: ✅ Recruiter (May 2021 to Present) ✅ Data Analyst (August 2019 to May 2021) ✅ Sales Rep (April 2017 to August 2019) Recruiter want to see what you’re doing now before going back in time. Your most recent position should come first, followed by your second most recent, and so on. Honestly, most of the people have got it correct but have come across some resume last few days where I was not able to understand the number of experience and current working organisation. Small details like this can make a real difference. #Recruiters #Jobseeker #JobseekerTips #ResumeTips #Resume #Hiring #Jobs #Macsupport #TechnicalSupport

🚨 The Perils of Being a Resource Manager 🚨 My LinkedIn DMs Flooded. Not with questions about resource management or operations (nope, not that lucky!), but with people asking about job openings. 📩 “Hi, are there any openings in marketing?” “Do you have a role for a Data Analyst?” “I’m looking for a job in Finance, can you help?” While I absolutely love connecting with folks, I’m pretty sure I’ve got the wrong job title here. 😂 Note to self: Maybe I need to add “Not HR, but Happy to Help!” to my bio. 😜 #ResourceManager #HRConfusion #JobSeekers #LinkedInLife

Recently, I started in another part time role while still actively looking for a full time analytics position. This has really driven home for me how exhausting the job search is. Actively applying requires a lot of time and energy, making it difficult to juggle other roles and responsibilities. This is for anyone out there in a similar situation: We're doing okay. Some days we'll have less energy available for the job search and some days we'll have more. There is no minimum of time we should be spending each day on searching and/or upskilling. We're doing out best with our limited time and energy, and that's all anyone can ask for. #dataanalyst #opentoopportunities #jobsearch

Last week a job seeker asked me if there was a way to find jobs shared in posts. The easiest way to do this is to head to your search bar and try one of the follow searches: #hiring #hiringnow #hiring + industry #hiringnow + industry #hiring + position title #hiringnow + position title These searches will generate results within your network and you can filter by people or posts. I recommend posts since you're looking for jobs people post about. For even more precision in your search results, put quotation marks around your search terms so "#hiringnow + data analyst" would be the search phrase. You can also search without using the hashtag and try "hiring + data analyst" to see results. I'm giving you a few different options because people post things in different ways and you never know which one will populate the result you're looking for. I hope this helps, and happy searching! Let's learn! If you are still on entry level data analyst like me then you need to hear this why you SHOULD avoid guided projects in your CV/Resume. "What are guided projects ? Guided projects are projects that are structured learning experiences that combine hands-on work with expert guidance". The common things nowadays is "coffee sales analysis" and "pizza sale analysis". The truth is that the hiring team no longer see this as PROJECTS. Instead they tend to see it as Red flag why because it shows how good you are in copying other people's work. We are trying to show our skills through projects, right ? Then what is wrong with this project's that we mention ? don't think from your side, Think from the hiring team's side Most of this project are from the YouTube and they have alot of viewers. even if we consider 50% percent of there number then just imagine how many aspiring data analysis would have created this same project. Remember hiring team sees hundreds of resumes and portfolios daily basis Just imagine how many times they have would have seen the same Tittles of projects again and again they would know that these projects are publicly available for everyone Meaning you have simply copied pasted the entire project from YouTube So now if i want to hire a data analyst the how would i judge you or your technical skills? What is the use of pizza or coffee sales analysis project for my company? By doing such guided projects you are involving yourself in a big circle of competition Remember guided projects are good for your personal practice and linkedin content only but try not to involve them in your portfolio or resume. #dataanalysis #dataanalysts #hiring #portfolio #freelancers

It feels overwhelming to see all the super-qualified people applying to entry-level data analyst job postings. Especially when you don't have a TECH background. But here's a story that should give you career-pivoter's hope 👇 🌄I was hiking last week with a data hiring manager and he explained how he hired his last entry-level position. He didn't actually hire the person with the most data experience. He hired the person with medium data skills, but a strong domain background. He said, "I can teach them the data stuff, but teaching them about the domain would take years" 👉 So apply to data jobs within your domain: Teacher? Apply to education data jobs. Accountant? Apply to financial data jobs. Physical Therapist? Apply to health data jobs. I promise you've got this! Don't give up.
