Carbohydrate Source and Supply when feeding 2024 maize silage Consider the added value and complimentary role of sugar alongside starch Sugar supplementation to early lactation dairy cows has the ability to support and improve rumen pH, increase DMI and reduce feed sorting. While starch is an essential energy source, the consequences of overfeeding starch to encourage milk production can result in bouts of ruminal acidosis and an altered ruminal microbiome. Refining starch inclusion with sugar supplementation can encourage healthy feeding behaviour and intake, and thereby support yield of total milk and components. Why not also consider a regulated release protein molasses blend such as UM's Nutrimaize, helping to slow down the release of nitrogen, providing better rumen synchronicity between the availability of nitrogen during starch digestion. This synchronicity will also help improve starch utilisation and further reduce the risk of acidosis.

Review article on the use of microalgae as a food additive for poultry farming. Microalgae-based feed can enhance broilers' body weight, feed intake, and, more interestingly, improve the nutritional quality of poultry-sourced food products with omega-3 fatty acids and carotenoids. From our side we have an meaningful experience in live microalgae application for livestocks by integration into farming feeding and drinking systems. However, the crucial challenge here is equipment manufacturers agreement. https://lnkd.in/eUnWu6zy #microalgae #chlorella #sustainability #wastewatertreatment #zeroemission #carbonneutrality #carboncapture #bioremediation #environmentprotection #bioreactors #oxygen #nutrition #feeding #livestock #poultryhealth

Dear Poultry Farmer, Feed Fermentation for chickens is a beneficial practice that can improve the health of your flock, reduce feed costs, and improve nutrient absorption. Although feed fermentation for chickens may have potential negative effects to consider if the process is not done correctly, so you need to be extremely careful when practicing this. Benefits of Fermented Feed for Chickens: 🐓. Improved Gut Health: Fermented feed introduces beneficial probiotics, which can promote a healthy digestive system in chickens. 🐓. Better Nutrient Absorption: The fermentation process breaks down anti-nutrients like phytic acid, making it easier for chickens to absorb essential nutrients like calcium and phosphorus. 🐓. Enhanced Immune System: The probiotics and nutrients in fermented feed can boost the immune system, reducing the need for antibiotics. 🐓. Increased Egg Production: Hens fed with fermented feed often show improvements in egg production, as their digestive systems are more efficient. 🐓. Reduced Feed Costs: Fermented feed increases nutrient density, meaning chickens may eat less but gain more nutrition. 🐓. Reduction of Pathogens: The acidic environment created by fermentation reduces harmful pathogens in the feed. How to Ferment Chicken Feed: Materials Needed: 🐓. Chicken feed (pellets, crumbles, or whole grains). 🐓. Clean water (non-chlorinated if possible). 🐓. A large, non-metallic container (plastic or ceramic works best). 🐓. Stirring spoon. 🐓Cloth or loose-fitting lid (to allow airflow while keeping contaminants out) Things to Watch Out For: 🐓. Water Quality: Avoid chlorinated water, as it can kill the beneficial bacteria needed for fermentation. 🐓. Mold: If you see mold on top of the feed, discard the batch and start over. 🐓. Temperature: Fermentation works best at temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Too cold, and fermentation will slow down; too hot, and it can spoil. This method can lead to healthier, more productive chickens, and help you save on feed costs in your poultry farming. #fermentation #chicken #feed #health Your Favorite Poultry Farmer 🐓🐓🐓

BSF in the news: "Exploring Insect Feed Market: Reduce Wastage by Livestock Farming" "Insect feed is a highly nutritious alternative to traditional animal feed, offering a rich source of protein, essential amino acids, healthy fats, and micronutrients. Insects such as black soldier fly larvae, mealworms, and crickets provide 40-75% protein by dry weight, efficiently converting feed into high-quality protein with a complete range of essential amino acids like lysine and methionine, crucial for animal growth and health. In addition, insects contain 10-30% fat, including beneficial omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that support immune function and provide a concentrated energy source. Insect feed also offers vital micronutrients, such as B vitamins (including B12, riboflavin, and niacin), and minerals like iron and zinc, enhancing the overall nutritional profile and supporting sustainable, eco-friendly animal nutrition." We are thrilled to announce another farmer has clinched first place in the latest tournament round, thanks to TOMIGUNN’s all-natural products! This farmer achieved an impressive 7.70 lbs with 50-day birds and a 1.64 feed conversion rate. The farmer uses our all-natural MICRO-D litter treatment and LEMONAIDE probiotics. Enhancing Gut Health LEMONAIDE is a probiotic supplement administered through drinking water, developed to maintain a balanced gut microbiota in poultry. Improved Nutrient Absorption Poultry feed contains complex nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats that require enzymatic breakdown for absorption. The probiotics in LEMONAIDE produce enzymes that aid in this breakdown, improving nutrient availability. Poultry Litter Management MICRO-D is a microbial additive formulated to stabilize poultry litter by reducing ammonia and other volatile organic compounds produced from decaying litter. Applying MICRO-D to litter between flocks, especially in conjunction with windrowing, promotes the decomposition of organic matter and releases vital nutrients. The product's effectiveness improves with repeated use. NOP Compliant LEMONAIDE and MICRO-D are compliant with the national organic program of the USDA. It’s World Milk Day! Ruminants are essential to feeding a growing world population and form an important part of the path to net zero. Fermentation in the rumen allows them to eat materials inedible to humans and convert this into meat and milk dense with highly bioavailable nutrients. The UN FAO estimates by 2050 there will be 70% more demand for animal products to feed the world. The greatest promise in reducing the carbon footprint of ruminant livestock will be improvements in efficiency, including better feeds and feeding techniques. A full life cycle assessment (LCA) independently and critically reviewed by industry experts following ISO (14040/44), concluded Actisaf® Sc 47 live yeast has been proven to result in a 5% reduction in CO2e per kg milk (subject to supplementation)? As a probiotic, Actisaf does this by altering the rumen environment to support the growth of lactic acid-utilising bacteria and microbial species that aid fibre digestibility. This stabilises rumen pH and improves feed conversion efficiency of cows by 4.5%, resulting in an extra 2.8kg energy corrected milk per cow per day, with no increase in feed intakes or negative impacts on health parameters or body condition. By naturally improving the profitability, performance and sustainability of dairy, we can ensure the long-term viability of our industry and maintain a reliable, safe and affordable food supply.
