The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict No conflict in the world has lasted as long, generated as many news headlines, or incited as much controversy as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Yet, despite, or perhaps because of, the degree of international attention it receives, the conflict is still widely misunderstood. While Israelisand Palestinians and their respective supporters trade accusations, many outside observers remain confused by the conflict's complexity and perplexed by the passion it arouses. The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: What Everyone Needs to KnowRG offers an even-handed and judicious guide to the world's most intractable dispute. Writing in an engaging, jargon-free QandA format, Dov Waxman provides clear and concise answers to common questions, from the most basic to the mostcontentious. Covering the conflict from its nineteenth-century origins to the latest developments of the twenty-first century, this book explains the key events, examines the core issues, and presents the competing claims and narratives of both sides. Readers will learn what the Israeli-Palestinianconflict is all about, how it has evolved over time, and why it continues to defy diplomatic efforts at a resolution. https://lnkd.in/gsPvV8xq

My critique of the example regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict highlights important aspects of the situation that are often overlooked in discussions about entrenched identities and historical narratives. My emphasize that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is fundamentally rooted in the historical reality of displacement and the establishment of Israel at the expense of Palestinian homes and lands. This perspective underscores the importance of recognizing the historical grievances that shape the current dynamics of the conflict.

THE PALESTINE-ISRAEL CONFLICT : Book recommendation By Dan Cohn-Sherbok & Dawoud El- Alami Listening to views from one side or the other is often an exercise in having more questions than answers, sprinkled with skepticism and cynicism. There is no possibility of having a 'balanced view' from vested parties. At the same time the need is to have a well informed view. As a service in this direction, Dan Cohen-Sherlock and Dawoud El-Alami have jointly written a book, a beginner's guide, giving both sides of the story in one book. In The Palestine- Israel conflict, Dr. Dawoud has written the Palestinian perspective while Rabbi Professir Da Cohn has written the Isreali perspective. Both have further responded to the points raised by the other in the same book. This is as close as it is possible to come to an understanding of what have been the arguments and responses on both sides to have a personal view on a political situation gripping the world and our neighbourhood at this point in time.

My current research forces me to read horrible accounts of victims, cases, and outcomes of #genocides around the world. In the middle of this, what enrages me the most is media and academic #propaganda based langauge and rhetorics. Recently, I came across two articles of #CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), a prestigious and quite well-known online presence that discusses and explains politics and international affairs to laymen and experts alike. The first article was of the history of the Israel-Palestine Conflict and the introductory part was written in such a way where #Palestine wasn’t mentioned and the 7 October 2023 attack was mentioned and so was Hamas. It noted that the number of fatalities could not be confirmed because there are no international presence. UNOCHA gave a number of 36,000 fatalities since the retaliatory attack of #Israel. Continuing on the number, the second article of CFR is written by a former member of the “Middle East Advisory” of President Bush and President Trump. The words and phrases used were extremely undermining the current genocide, but you can tell that he is unfazed by the conflict. It is sad that a reputable source like CFR could allow such articles that disregard the gravity of the situation. Language is important because they create opinions. A lot of people visit CFR, they want to know and do we want to skew their opinion on such critical issues by navigating arguments that imply that these genocidal actions are okay? Honestly, disappointing. I will link the articles in the comment for people to judge.
