The National Endeavor for Enhancing Water Resource Management through Innovative Technology and Roadmap Alignment (#NEERMITRA) is a comprehensive initiative aimed at accelerating India's progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (#SDG6) targets on clean water and sanitation. The initiative focuses on identifying and prioritizing challenges related to water security in India and developing a technology roadmap to address these challenges. Thank you, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Dr. Preeti Banzal, and Dr. M. Mohanty, FNAAS for inviting ICARDA; International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas to the roundtable discussion. The NEERMITRA roundtable on water security in agriculture was an important step towards identifying and prioritizing the most pressing challenges faced by the sector and guiding the development of a targeted science, technology and innovation (STI) roadmap. We look forward to follow-up steps to help develop a national roadmap and sharing our novel innovations from the world over to serve the dryland farmers of India.

Impressions from the ICRPC-2024 Conference on Responsible Production and Consumption 🌾🌍 I recently had the privilege of participating in the International Conference on Responsible Production and Consumption: Agricultural Sustainability and Food Security (ICRPC-2024) organized by the prestigious School of Management Studies at the University of Hyderabad. This thought-provoking 3-day event from March 5-7 brought together academics, industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to delve into the pressing issues surrounding sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring food security globally. 🌱🌏 The conference tackled critical topics such as environmentally responsible farming methods 👩🌾, efficient resource utilization 💧, reducing food waste 🍽️, and promoting equitable access to nutritious food. 🍎 Insightful keynote addresses and panel discussions highlighted the urgent need for collaborative efforts across sectors to transition towards more sustainable production and consumption models aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. 🌐⚖️ As a participant, I had the opportunity to engage with leading minds and gain invaluable perspectives on innovative solutions being implemented worldwide. 💡 The diverse range of research presentations showcased promising advancements in areas like precision agriculture 👨🔬, alternative protein sources 🥜, and supply chain optimization for minimizing environmental impact. 🚚🌳 I extend my sincere appreciation to the organizers, notably the Conference chair & Dean of our SMS departments Prof. Mary Jessica and Convenor Prof.Pramod kumar mishra, for facilitating this enriching exchange of ideas. New Delhi At the National Round Table on Digital Agriculture, joined by important stakeholders in digital agriculture from Startups to Agtech and IT companies and eminent experts, ICFA launched India Digital Agriculture Council today in New Delhi. The Council aims to function as the apex body for communication and coordination, policy research and advocacy, technology and business collaborations, capacity building and stewardship, data monitoring and digital governance, and knowledge repository and innovation towards digitalization & digital transformation of Indian agriculture. Former DG, NIC, Dr. M. Moni, who earlier chaired ICFA Working Group on IT in Agriculture, is appointed as the Chairman of the Council & Mr. Dushyant K.
