In this final episode of the Pioneers of F1-Hybrid Strawberries, I look back on how Limgroup's F1-Hybrid Strawberry journey started and the headlines of 2024. I zoom in on: - how we accelerated the development of our F1-Hybrid Strawberries; - the launch of Limore One early 2024; - the importance of the Pioneers of F1-Hybrid Strawberries; - the outlook for the next 5 years. And last but not least: the importance of working together. I can truly state that I am proud on what has been achieved by the Limgroup team, the Pioneers of F1-Hybrid Strawberries and all other partners. We all worked hard on making the start of 'the transition of the strawberry market from clonal bred varieties towards F1 bred varieties' a big succes. Together with other industry leaders, we have initiated this transition and taken responsibility for developing sustainably grown, healthy, and delicious strawberries. With passion, vision, and a strong product, we have taken the first big step in 2024. More to come in the coming periode ....... Promising barley Insights from Scandinavia To be able to provide the highest quality malt every day, we source our malting barley from across Europe. Two important regions for brewing barley are Sweden and Denmark. Recently, our CEO, Jos Jennissen, joined 40 other maltsters, brewers, and malting barley suppliers on a crop tour in Scandinavia to gain insights in the upcoming harvest. Jos Jennissen: “It was great to reconnect with colleagues from the industry and see the barley fields firsthand. The crop looked promising, and the consensus is that we're on track for a harvest in line with the 5-year average to perhaps slightly below. It was a valuable and interesting two days spent sharing insights and experiences”. Some insights: 💪In Denmark, protein levels are tending low, while in Sweden they are acceptable. 🌾Disease pressure across both regions appears to be minimal. ⛅️Despite the significant rainfall, limited sunlight and late and prolonged seeding period, the results are in fact positive. 🍺This week the harvest will go to its peak. A big thank you to DAKOFO, DLG Group, Lantmännen, Danish Agro and Copenhagen Merchants for organizing this event!

"We wanted to make a positive difference to the climate and we could see that there’s a big gap in the cheese market for high-quality plant-based products that resemble conventional cheese products.” 🧀 Developing such a product has been no easy task. But that in itself has been a huge motivational factor for us. Read more about the challenging cheese development at FÆRM in this article brought to you by FødevareFOKUS and Mikkel Bækgaard. https://lnkd.in/e2i6d9hm

Success in the dynamic world of winegrape farming requires consistency and fair representation. The grower-owned cooperative Allied Grape Growers (AGG) is now an essential component of the California wine business. Assuring members' voices are heard and providing a reliable forum for grape marketing, AGG is crucial to the sector's stability. As a cooperative, AGG gives top priority to its members' interests in every transaction and directly shares earnings with them. By cutting down unnecessary expenses, this strategy benefits individual producers and enhances the industry's overall sustainability. In an exclusive interview with the International Bulk Wine & Spirits Show, Jeff Bitter, President of AGG, delves into the advantages of this cooperative model. He discusses how it promotes growers' well-being, guarantees equitable representation, and supports the wine industry's long-term stability. Jeff also talks about the advancements and challenges shaping the future of winegrape cultivation. 🍅 A picture for history books yet to be written! Commercial plant bioengineering began with the development of the Flavr Savr tomato more than 30 years ago. Since, there's been tremendous economic and environmental value driven by these technologies as applied to the biggest and broadest challenges in agriculture (mostly improving production of our favorite "universal feedstock," corn). But there have been very few products made directly for the people (a papaya here, a pineapple there...), largely due to the expense of these new tools as well as the cost and complexity of navigating young regulatory frameworks. Between the Norfolk Healthy Produce Purple Tomato, the continuing development of Arctic® Apples and the growing swell of both new startups (Pairwise and many others) as well as consumer-focused development efforts from established players like J.R. Simplot Company, it really feels like we're entering a new generation of bioengineering driven by more diverse companies with more diverse (and consumer-focused) products in mind. I'm excited to see where this leads! #bioengineering #fruitsandvegetables #foodtech #future #syntheticbiology #geneediting
What a journey!!! We’ve overcome a tremendous set of challenges to launch our first product. Yesterday, I bought a clamshell of Norfolk Healthy Produce Empress Purple Tomatoes. Words can’t describe how gratifying this felt! Huge congrats and thanks to our amazing team, partners, and fans. It truly takes a village. Those of you on the East Coast - look for #empresspurpletomatoes at select local grocery stores! Now our journey continues, as we share how bioengineering can solve challenges in our food system and deliver consumers and the environment better products. We will continue leading with a focus on science, facts, open curious discussion, and a commitment to move past old dogma and make the world better!

What does $10 get you these days? Not much... We are seeing amazing traction with our latest summer offering, a sample set of each of our wines. 1 box of our blanc, rosé, orange and rouge for $80 + free shipping. That's $10/bottle for sugar free, additive free, sustainably farmed, premium French wine that reduces the carbon footprint by over 50% compared with glass and stays fresh for up to 6 weeks. It also just happens to come in a box When you start a brand or launch a product, as a founder, you have to be irrational, over confident and overly optimistic. You have to believe that product market fit is just around the corner and you just need to keep chipping away. When I look at this bundle, despite my founder lens, its very hard not to see boxed wine being the format of the future for every day wine drinking. Sometimes, it just makes too much sense... https://lnkd.in/gNgMxh3a
