A talk with future When you start thinking that you know enough about your field to lecture someone on this, and you stumbled with young, energetic and super exuberant students , all your knowledge get tested in half an hour! I had this experience last evening with few of my son's friends studying in second year engineering. A hearty talk and short session full of questions, answers and counter questions (obviously on renewable energy) made me realize that industry exposure for these kids or we can say periodic talks with an industry expert is really need of the hour. Few benefits in my opinion can be: Education and Inspiration: These talks provide students with insights into the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities (I talked about Renewables, specifically Solar). They learn about various technologies, their applications, and the role of engineers in the renewable energy sector. Exposure to professionals who are making significant contributions can inspire students to pursue careers in respective field. Networking: They get the opportunity to interact with professionals, ask questions, and build connections. Networking with industry experts can open doors to internships, and potential job placements in companies. Real-world perspective: Hearing firsthand experiences from industry professionals offers a realistic view of the industry. This can help them align their academic pursuits with industry requirements. Overall, such talks with any industry professionals enriches the educational experience of engineering students, equipping them with the knowledge, inspiration, and connections necessary to become future leaders in their respective fields. PS; It also helps professionals to relive collage days!
