🌟 I’m thrilled to share that I have successfully completed my Master’s degree in Web and Data Science from the University of Koblenz, Germany! 🎓 This journey has been incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally. During my studies, I: ->Acquired 2 years of experience as a working student in IT Infrastructure and as a data scientist at BOMAG, followed by 1 year as a full-time employee at the same company. ->Participated in two prestigious international research workshops: the 7th International School on Deep Learning (Oct 2022, Lulea, Sweden) and the 7th International School on Big Data (July 2023, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain). ->Engaged in various social voluntary activities, and I was honored to receive the STIBET Degree Scholarship. My thesis, titled “Prerequisites of Artificial General Intelligence,” allowed me to delve deep into AI, a field I am passionate about and eager to continue exploring. As Takeda Shingen wisely said, “Knowledge is not power; it is only potential. Applying that knowledge is power. Understanding why and when to apply that knowledge is wisdom.” Looking forward to applying what I've learned and embracing new challenges in the field. 🚀

How can software engineers and journalists work together? One way is to have one person responsible for articulating the goal and making sure everyone understands the goal to mean the same thing. You can do this by asking everyone on a zoom call to write on a shared doc at the same time what the goal is and then spot the differences to see where you need to clarify. I was thinking about this because Lakshmi Sivadas invited me back to talk to the new cohort of Polis LSE's JournalismAI fellowship about my experience on fellowship. The fellowship is a great opportunity to practice working in a multidisciplinary team and build up more tips like this. If you have a good tip for a way techies and journos can work well together, share it for the new cohort in the comments below!

What I used to think building a data science career was: - Earning a Ph.D. at a top-tier school - Mastering every machine learning algorithm - Publishing research papers in top journals - Attending every high-profile conference - Working 90 hours a week - Landing a job at a FAANG How I’m currently building my data science career: - Work only on projects that align with the person I want to become in 3-5 years. - Build a network of brilliant and kind people - Work from anywhere I want in the world - Leverage social media to gain more diverse opportunities - Collaborate on high-impact and high-leverage projects - Get enough sleep, sunshine, and time with family Don’t get caught up in the comparison game. It's not worth it. Remember, your life, your terms. 🫰

Today's world has greatly simplified the whole issue of learning and gaining new knowledge every day, through technology you can learn and gain new knowledge and skills at any time. What matters is how you use your electronic device, whether it's a phone or your computer. With that in mind, I decided to start looking for new skills and knowledge. I am starting my new journey to learn DATA SCIENCE. The reason for choosing this course is it is the perfect blend of art and science. It requires both creativity and critical thinking. I often find myself Lost in thought, trying to make sense of a complicated dataset. It is a challenge that I enjoy and one that I am constantly learning from. 🚀 Just wrapped up my first-ever hackathon journey, a transformative 2-week event hosted by the Data Science Club at the University of Waterloo, and what an incredible experience it was! A huge shoutout to my phenomenal team members - Jeongwoo Hong, Hyowon Lee, and Hyoseo Lee. Working alongside such dedicated and talented individuals was not only a blast but also a tremendous learning opportunity. Your insights and hard work were the backbone of our success. 🌟 This unique hackathon, judged by professionals from EY and a prestigious consultancy firm, challenged us to dive deep into the realm of Machine Learning/AI. Our mission? To develop a prediction model capable of forecasting Alberta wildfires with high precision. After experimenting with a combination of linear regression, logistic regression, and random forest algorithms, we achieved an impressive 95% accuracy rate. This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork and innovation. While we didn't clinch the top prize, placing in the top 8 and having the opportunity to present our findings to the judges was an honor. The feedback we received was invaluable, and I'm grateful for the chance to learn from such esteemed professionals. Throughout this hackathon, I gained profound insights into data cleaning, categorization, and linear regressions. These skills are not just academic; they're tools that will undoubtedly enhance my future projects and professional endeavors. A massive thank you to the Data Science Club at the University of Waterloo for hosting this enriching event, and to the judges from EY for their constructive feedback and encouragement. This experience has fueled my passion for data science and underscored the importance of collaborative problem-solving in achieving groundbreaking results. As I reflect on these past two weeks, I'm reminded of the power of perseverance, the value of continuous learning, and the impact of teamwork. I look forward to applying these lessons in my future projects and am eager to explore new challenges that lie ahead.🔥 #DataScience #MachineLearning #Hackathon #UniversityOfWaterloo #Teamwork #ContinuousLearning #AI
