Your personal vehicle is most likely not a submarine, so don’t even think about driving it through flood waters. Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. To put it simply — Turn Around, Don’t Drown! 🚙🌊 Just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away. Stay off of bridges over fast-moving water. Determine how best to protect yourself based on the type of flooding. #flood #emergency #TropicalStormDebby

Surprisingly, flooding claims more lives annually than any other thunderstorm-related hazard. Why? The primary reason is the tendency for individuals to underestimate the sheer force and power of water. Alarmingly, over half of all flood-related deaths occur with victims inside vehicles, many of whom tragically perish as their vehicles are swept downstream. Whether you're driving or walking, if you encounter a flooded road, remember to Turn Around Don't Drown! #safety #TurnAroundDontDrown

Following on from our post about EVs in flood water, we’ve been able to verify 27 EV battery fires, globally since 2010, following submersion in water. Of those, four EVs were accidentally submerged when vehicles rolled into the water, whereas the rest were victims of natural flooding events - primarily saltwater due to coastal flooding.
