"3+ years of non-internship experience" Every time I read this sentence on a JD I get so frustrated! Times have changed - interns don't fetch coffee for the team or do odd jobs for their superiors anymore. Remote internships wouldn't even allow them to do that! I did almost an year long internship at a big company and that was the most rewarding professional experience ever. I provided tangible value/deliverables through the projects I worked on that my team can use way after I left. Most of us aren't even allowed to do full-time/part-time work as international students, Many of us have to fulfill course requirements as a part of our higher education programs. Finding internships in the first place has become significantly difficult than it used to be since they are now more catered to the role we want to step into after graduation rather than an open-ended - "do-whatever-we-tell-you-to-do" or "get-me-those-skirts-from-calvin-klein" TL;DR: If you're hiring for an entry-level role, you can/should value internship experience as collaborative work in a professional setting. :(

Internships have long been a critical stepping stone to post-graduation employment. However, the reality is sobering: while over 55% of students engaged in internships or co-ops a decade ago, that figure has dropped to 48% and continues to decline.
