Reasons to Get an Internship Embarking on an internship can be a pivotal experience in your academic journey, offering much more than just a line on your resume. Firstly, internships provide a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. This experience not only enhances your understanding of your field but also prepares you for the demands and expectations of the workplace. From tackling project deadlines to navigating professional communications, the practical skills gained during an internship can significantly boost your confidence and competence. Moreover, internships open the door to networking opportunities that are often inaccessible through traditional academic settings. By working alongside professionals in your field, you gain access to mentors who can offer guidance, advice, and support. These relationships can lead to job opportunities and collaborations long after the internship has ended. Additionally, internships offer valuable insights into your career path by allowing you to experience a specific role within an industry, helping you to understand what you enjoy, what you excel at, and what areas might need further development. This clarity is crucial for making informed future career decisions and steering your academic choices towards more targeted and relevant pursuits. Whether it's gaining experience, building networks, or clarifying your career path, an internship provides a robust foundation for your professional growth. So, explore internships that spark your interest and take that crucial step towards shaping your future. #lernerbiz

Over a decade later, the internship landscape remains static, leaving the majority of learners without real-world experience before graduation. Despite searches for "is university worth it" doubling and the knowledge that internship participation increases student satisfaction with their degree provider as well as with their career—while improving job and employment outcomes (more job offers, less underemployment)—this stagnation prompts a critical examination of our approach to internships. Recent data sheds light on the significant challenges employers face in providing internships: 📊 84% of companies acknowledge the substantial resources required for structured intern training. ⏳ 68% of employers note that projects completed by interns often take longer than those done by hired professionals. 🔄 50% of employers find that some work produced by interns is not usable in its original form due to the interns' skill level. 🙌 73% of employers agree that interns require more guided support, which can be time-consuming to manage. These insights bring us to a pivotal question: Is the solution to our internship conundrum to shift our perspective, viewing internships not as mere jobs but as educational courses? This reimagining could pave the way for creating more meaningful and manageable internship opportunities, aligning with both educational objectives and business needs. 🔍 We invite you to delve deeper into this conversation with Virtual Internships' latest white paper, which explores the perspectives of 200 global employers on the intricacies of hiring interns specifically. Our study highlights the challenges and barriers that maintain high demand for internships while keeping supply low. 👉 Read the full white paper here: https://bit.ly/4aJnkKu We're at a crossroads in how internships are structured and perceived.
