Why Wind and Solar Aren’t Enough: The Need for Lasting Energy Solutions While wind and solar have become popular in the green energy movement, they have several key limitations. Their low energy density means they need large areas to capture a significant amount of energy. They are also intermittent, requiring complex storage and backup systems to ensure a consistent energy supply. On top of that, their short lifespan poses a major challenge. The newest solar panels, for example, last only 12-15 years before needing to be replaced, creating an ongoing cycle of manufacturing and disposal.
