The latest European Champions Report by Football Benchmark is a treasure trove of insights into how Europe’s top football clubs are performing both financially and operationally. Real Madrid’s historic milestone of €1.065 billion in operating revenue is not just a reflection of their global dominance but also a blueprint for how clubs can combine sporting success with savvy business operations. Meanwhile, Manchester City’s impressive net profit of €86 million highlights their ability to balance performance on the pitch with financial sustainability. One statistic that caught my eye is PSV Eindhoven’s staggering 51% revenue growth, driven by their progress in the UEFA Champions League. This showcases how even clubs outside the financial elite can leverage strong performances in European competitions to create significant financial gains. It’s also fascinating to see that, despite their financial clout, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter recorded net losses of €60 million and €36 million, respectively. This raises questions about the cost of chasing success and the financial risks associated with it. Yet, these losses pale in comparison to Juventus (€199 million) and Manchester United (€132 million), underlining the challenges even the biggest names face in maintaining profitability. Lastly, the focus on youth development by Real Madrid and PSV Eindhoven is a powerful reminder of the importance of long-term strategy. By investing in talent pipelines, they are not only securing success on the pitch but also creating a sustainable model for growth. This report is a must-read for anyone interested in how football clubs are navigating today’s competitive and financial landscape. 📊⚽ #FootballBusiness #FootballBenchmark #FootballMarketing #SportsMarketing #FootballFinance

🏆 | Last season, Real Madrid had a spectacular season. They earned an impressive double, winning the La Liga title, as well as the UEFA Champions League title. 💪🏽 | This 2024-25 season, Real Madrid were expected to remain a strong force, ensuring the retention of both titles. 🇫🇷 | Adding Kylian Mbappe to an already star studded team was supposed to make Real Madrid unstoppable. After all, the Frenchman is considered one of the best footballers in the world right now, and is a contender of the prestigious Ballon d’Or award which will be presented on Monday this coming week. ⚪️ | However, the Los Blancos have had a strange start to the season. Most of their wins were hard to get even against much ‘weaker’ opponents, and French team Lille ended Real Madrid’s 36-games-unbeaten streak in the UCL a round ago. 🔵🔴 | Tomorrow, Real Madrid face Barcelona. The El Clássico game is set to be an all-timer for LALIGA , especially considering Real Madrid’s recent struggles and FC Barcelona ‘s return to top form. 3️⃣ | This week, both Raphina of Barcelona and Vini Jr. of Real Madrid scored a hat trick in their respective UCL games. What a trailer to what is expected to be a thrilling game! ✍🏽 | In this article, I delve deeper into Real Madrid’s recent struggles and how it will affect their defence in both titles. One thing’s for sure though, tomorrow’s El Clássico will tell us a lot about the season to come in Spanish football.
