What Is 20/20 Vision? 20/20 vision refers to seeing clearly at 20 feet, which is considered the standard for normal vision. It doesn’t mean perfect eyesight, as other visual skills like depth perception and focus aren’t included. An eye exam helps check if your vision meets this standard or needs correction. Ever wondered about the application of a pinhole in eye care? 🌟🔍 A pinhole test is a quick and effective way to determine if vision problems are due to refractive errors. By allowing only a narrow beam of light to enter the eye, the pinhole reduces the size of the blur circle on the retina, helping to identify whether glasses or contact lenses can improve vision. It's a simple yet powerful tool in the optometrist’s toolkit! #Optometry #EyeCare #VisionHealth #PinholeTest #RefractiveErrors #refraction #contactlens #opthalmology #retinoscopy

Encourage your patients to practice safety this holiday season. One of the top ways someone gets a facial injury during the holidays is accidents related to Christmas decorations and activities, such as: 1. Christmas Tree Accidents: Falling branches or sharp edges on artificial trees can pose a risk. 2. Ornament Injuries: Breaking glass ornaments can result in sharp cuts or puncture injuries to the face and eyes. 3. String Lights & Electrical Decor: Sharp corners, tangled cords, or electrical hazards can result in injuries if someone trips or falls. 4. Holiday Toys and Gadgets: Toys that shoot, have sharp edges, or contain small projectiles pose a significant risk, especially for children. 5. Festive Fireworks (New Year's Eve): Improper handling or close proximity to fireworks can result in severe face and eye injuries. Encourage your patients to celebrate safely this holiday season and avoid spending what should be your festive family time in surgery. 🎁 Share this post to spread the word about winter holiday safety. Did you ever heard about this ?? Myokymia is a common disorder that involves involuntary, fine, and persistent quivering or rippling of muscles. It's characterized by non-synchronous contractions of striated muscle fibers, causing visible rippling of the overlying skin. Myokymia is most common in facial muscles, particularly the eyelids. It manifests as an uncontrollable, unilateral eyelid twitch or tic. Patients often describe it as small, annoying twitches of the upper or lower eyelids. #optometry #opthalmology #eye #eyehealth

Stop the scroll! Let's talk about doulas, c-sections, and glam! Yeah, you read it right. Glam schmam! Last summer, I dove into the world of doula certification. And guess what I found? A worrying trend of glamorizing C-sections. Think champagne grandeur with Spotify's 'Surgery Room Serenades' in the background. But here's the truth, a C-section is not a walk in the park. Shocked? Don't be. It’s major surgery, pals—a not so glamorous one! Your body deserves better. Data? Sure. Out of all my overnight newborn clients, a staggering number was still wrestling with recovery way beyond the 6-week mark. Posting glam images post-surgery isn't helping. So here’s something practical for you. Let’s focus on what really matters – the health and safety of both mother and newborn. Because ‘Sexy Surgical Summer’ might be trendy, but ‘Safe and Sound Summer’ always wins. The glamorization of C-sections needs to go. And go now. It's high time we stop falling for the hollow glitter and switch to actual facts. Wanna know more? Check out the article I was a part of [here](https://lnkd.in/gm7t92zG). Enjoyed the reality check? Vegas, a 14-year-old Cocker Spaniel was brought in with anterior lens luxation, a condition where his lens shifted in the front of the eye and posed the risk of secondary glaucoma, he needed help, but besides being an old patient Vegas had multiple systemic conditions which made him a high risk anaesthetic candidate. To avoid anaesthetic risk we opted for manual couching—a non-surgical procedure that nudged his lens in the posterior segment. Vegas also had a bothersome eyelid mass with was addressed at the same time. Though couching is not the best treatment for luxated lenses but it was the best we could offer to Vegas after weighing pros and cons. Choosing the right therapy to fit the need of the patient is where the expertise lies. It's the little things that bring relief and preserve the golden moments in our senior pets' lives. 🐾🔬 #SeniorPetVision #LensLuxationAwareness #theeyevet Watch the full video on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dHe23z9c

👁️ Eye Anatomy & Common Injuries Explained 🔍 Understanding the basic structure of the eye can help you identify and address common injuries like corneal abrasions and subconjunctival hemorrhages. 1️⃣ Corneal Abrasion: A scratch on the cornea’s surface can cause pain, redness, and sensitivity to light. This usually occurs from contact with foreign objects. 2️⃣ Subconjunctival Hemorrhage: This harmless red spot is due to blood trapped between the conjunctiva and sclera, often from a sudden increase in blood pressure (like a cough or sneeze). 🧴 Protect Your Eyes: Always wear protective eyewear during activities that could lead to injury, and remember, regular eye exams are key to maintaining good eye health. #EyeAnatomy #EyeHealth #EyeInjury #CornealAbrasion #SubconjunctivalHemorrhage #EyeCare #Optometry #EyeDoctor #HealthyEyes #EyeProtection #VisionCare #EyeAwareness #Ophthalmology #NeelamEyeHospital #EyeSafety #EyeFacts

A phoropter or refractor is an ophthalmic testing device. It is commonly used by eye care professionals during an eye examination, and contains different lenses used for refraction of the eye during sight testing, to measure an individual's refractive error and determine their eyeglass prescription. HOW DO YOU CHECK EYES THROUGH MANUAL PHOROPTERS? You sit in a chair that has a special device (called a phoroptor or refractor) attached to it. You look through the device and focus on an eye chart 20 feet (6 meters) away. The device contains lenses of different strengths that can be moved into your view. The test is performed one eye at a time. #opthalmology #optometrist #visioncheckup
