I posted this two months ago and the acceleration since then is jaw-dropping. I talk about the Meta.ai Ray Bans in this video. You’ve seen the news this week about people doxxing one another? If not, check Rachel Kimber, MPA, MS ‘s feed for a repost about it. The value of the real estate on our faces is going up and up. Avatars are barging beyond leisure activities and into everything from hiring to firing to training to sales. Like, it’s happening. People are getting used to the idea. In fundraising, progress continues to automate via avatars (I refuse to say autonomous…which implies a full-blown acceptance of zero human-in-the-looping, which I believe is a horrible idea). But the people with an open mind (myself included) are growing in numbers. The above is one aspect of my talk with Nathan Chappell, MBA, MNA, CFRE at the International Fundraising Congress in the Netherlands this week. We’re talking about whether AI is gonna take over your development team…..because that’s where the conversation is already going. This stuff is moving at the speed of light. Totally get it if you’re like “why should I learn NOW when everything is changing so fast?” Because we need you. We need YOU to shape the way AI is integrate into our work lives, into everything. Don’t wait for others to do it - there aren’t that many of us and you can’t wait for the government to roll in and make it all clear. Also, bc you NEED training across the org. That’s the #1 barrier according the the multi-year studies by Marketing AI Institute. When folks are trained, they can ask better questions about adoption at the enterprise level. If it’s any indication, I’d say 20% of the sessions here at IFC are about AI. If you’re looking for community, consider me part of it and vice-versa. #responsibleai #fundraising #avatars #nonprofit #sheleadsai #annemurphyphilanthropy 📣The waitlist for our AI bootcamp in January is open. We’ll launch an early bird rate soon - just DM me to be added to the list.

Is AI for the social sector about to enter Sober October? For your Friday enjoyment, I've mapped AI headlines along the #hypecycle, so you can join me in noting that the trough is here for #nonprofits and #philanthropy. What's a forward-thinking organization to do? Stay sober. Approach AI strategically and incrementally with small, meaningful pilots. Keep in mind that individual experimentation amongst your staff is already underway, so use this time to create your AI usage policy and AI evaluation checklist. Communities like Technology Association of Grantmakers can help.

Ready for #SoberOctober? Matthew Eshleman mentioned the Hype Cycle on a recent podcast about #AI and Johan Hammerstrom has been advocating for a year now that #nonprofits go slow and identify needs AI can address rather than feel #FOMO. #nonprofittechnology #nonprofitleadership #nonprofitmanagement #nonprofitexcellence #WellManagedIT

Newsflash: Using AI productively can be a bit overwhelming at first! In fact, the biggest question we heard in talking to nonprofits about AI over the last three months was also the simplest: How do you get started? Enter: Decoded Futures, a project of the Tech:NYC Foundation. Last week, Decoded Futures hosted a pilot event at Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop to help workforce development and education nonprofits in New York City enhance their capacity with AI. Some 40 nonprofit leaders, under the direction of Decoded Futures Entrepreneur in Residence Jake Porway and Program Director Bethany Crystal, learned AI fundamentals and got the chance to build custom GPTs with our partner Playlab AI. Among the highlights from the event: ✅ One group transforming an 18-page research report into short-form content for LinkedIn, blog posts, and more. ✅ A nonprofit developing a choose-your-own-adventure quiz for students to identify the best plants for their hydroponic systems. ✅ Meeting Elmo! Check out our takeaways from the event and how you can get involved in Decoded Futures: https://lnkd.in/eS7s_G7N And of course, big thanks to our partner Playlab AI and our supporters Robin Hood, Google, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). #AI #Nonprofits #AIForGood #NYC #NYCTech Bryan Lozano

Supporting innovation for inclusion! We are proud to share that we are partnering with Inclusive Brains, a startup leveraging artificial intelligence to develop cutting-edge assistive solutions. Together we want to accelerate the development of Prometheus, an innovative brain-computer interface (BCI) that can use a range of neurophysiological data (including brainwaves, heartbeats, and facial expressions) for mental commands. The goal of Prometheus is to help people who can no longer use their hands or speak to operate connected objects and navigate digital environments, thus giving them more autonomy or the ability to communicate again and broadening their access to education and to the workforce. Prometheus is already advanced, and can be used to control an exoskeleton arm with one’s mind. We will bring financial, strategic and logistical support to address Prometheus’ R&D and material needs by acquiring physiological sensors and 2 exoskeleton arms. These equipment will then be donated to a non-profit organization supporting people with paralysis. We will also support Inclusive Brains in making the Prometheus AI model open source so everyone else involved in advancing inclusion can benefit from our partnership. Inclusion is one of our core values, and we believe in investing in innovation that supports this. Prometheus is the first step of a long journey, and many other concrete use cases are envisaged with Inclusive Brains.
