This month, we're supporting the Movember movement – prioritising the three biggest health issues facing men: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons: 🔹A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. 🔹Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. 🔹Across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides. Cancer is a disease that not only affects the physical health of an individual but also takes a toll on their mental health. The journey of cancer, from diagnosis to treatment and even after recurrence, can be emotionally turbulent. During these challenging times, it's crucial to remember that you're not alone. It's essential to seek support, reach out to your loved ones, and prioritize your well-being. At Collaborative Cancer Care, we believe that cancer care should address not only the physical but also the emotional and psychological aspects of cancer. Our goal is to work with individuals and their families to provide comprehensive care that improves their quality of life. We understand the importance of mental health in cancer care and strive to create a supportive environment where patients can feel heard, understood, and cared for. Together, we can raise awareness about the importance of mental health in cancer care and help individuals and families affected by cancer. #collaborativecancercare #cancerawareness #MentalHealthAwareness #oncologymentalhealth

Movember is a movement held every November that is dedicated to raising awareness about men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health challenges. Movember serves as a platform to educate ourselves and others about critical men's health issues. By understanding these challenges, we can actively contribute to early detection, prevention and support for affected individuals. On average, men die four years earlier than women in Canada. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Canadian men. Prostate cancer is the 4th most common cancer in Canada and the #1 cancer in Canadian men. In Canada, 3 in 4 suicides are men. Suicide is also the second leading cause of death among Canadian men between the ages of 15 and 44. It’s International Men’s Day! This year, we’re focusing on the importance of men talking about their health. 🩺 In particular, we’re raising awareness for prostate cancer because too many men get diagnosed by chance, too late. To encourage men to talk about their health and wellbeing with their friends and family, we’ll be exploring why men often stay quiet about their health. We’ll be sharing information on prostate cancer risks and the early signs and symptoms to look out for, as well as information about support available to those who are concerned about prostate problems. We believe that those who are brave enough to speak up about their health and wellbeing are #PositiveMaleRoleModels👍. So today, be a positive role model and ask the men in your life how they are. #InternationalMensDay #FCDOServices #ProstateCancerAwareness #PositiveMaleRoleModels #MensHealthMatters Image description: A group of colleagues talking.
