Traci L. Baird, EngenderHealth's President and CEO, had the privilege of speaking on a panel organized by Options Consultancy Services at the Nigeria Family Planning Conference. The focus? Making sure everyone has access to contraception and communities get the healthcare they deserve. It’s the final day of the Nigeria Family Planning Conference and I had the honor of speaking on a panel organized by Options Consultancy Services on mobilizing domestic resources for #FamilyPlanning. I also had the absolute pleasure of having dinner last night with EngenderHealth’s talented team here led by Kabiru Atta. I’m so fortunate to work with people who are so experienced and committed to our goals and partners and projects. I recorded a brief video yesterday to say hello from the conference. I hope you can tell how sincerely happy I am to be here. Additional photos in comments!

Do you live in a country other than the country you were born in? One question people often asking me is this: "How is it to be a mom in Africa?" There’s NO WAY how can I fit in all the nuances of its ups and downs into a single post (plus Zambia is just ONE country in Africa!), but here's my try specifically about my life in Zambia: Ups: ✔ Having a full-time nanny & house help = no cleaning for me ✔Less unsolicited advice about parenting ✔Diversity of friends and cultures (and food!) ✔Being more creative in spending our free time ✔Get-aways at Victoria Falls or game resorts Downs: ✖ Power and water outages ✖Fewer opportunities for kids' activities and almost non-existent playgrounds ✖Expensive healthcare and schools ✖Grandparents far away ✖Air pollution I go by the philosophy that every seemingly negative thing can be a gift or opportunity to create something positive. For now, the ups outweigh the downs. And the truth is, even if we sometimes idealize our home countries, missing the “ups” from there, they come with their share of "downs" too. 🙏🏻 What are the ups and downs you’re experiencing in the country you live in? Share with me in the comments! Xo, Zuzana 💙🤎
