I think we are discussing formations in a different way. The other day we used 36 different formations in the game [against Fulham]. Against Manchester City 43. I don't know what formation we are talking about. For me it is something very maybe different from the way what you look like." - Mikel Arteta Arteta's quote points out that modern football is characterized by constant tactical adjustments and fluid positioning, making traditional static formations inadequate to describe a team's approach. "Dynamic space occupation" is a more accurate term as it captures the continuous movement, adaptability and strategic flexibility required in contemporary football. This perspective reflects the reality of how teams operate in different phases of the game, constantly changing their shape to respond to various situations and maximize their effectiveness on the field. Teams adapt their shape and positioning according to different phases of the game (defence, attack, transition). For example, a team may use a compact shape while defending (eg 4-4-2), an expansive shape while attacking (eg 3-2-5). During transitions, the team could adopt a 2-3-2-3 shape to quickly regain possession and counter-attack or reorganize defensively.

The co-founders of Prime Players Rubén Fernández Gordillo, Andres Villamizar, and José Forjaz, had the opportunity to attend the recent conference organised by FSI Training and hosted by Real Betis Balompié, where some of the most significant advancements in football training were discussed. 🧠⚽ What particularly stood out was the focus on enhancing physical performance through the implementation of new technologies, discussions surrounding growth and maturation in youth football (by TSG Hoffenheim Fußball-Spielbetriebs GmbH members), and the introduction of methodologies that boost performance in football academies. We are excited to see how innovation will help young footballers grow in a healthy, safe manner while achieving their best possible performance 🙌⚽ #FSITraining #FutureOfFootball #TalentDevelopment #StrengthTraining #PerformanceTechnology #YouthFootball #SportInnovation #InjuryPrevention

Module 7 Overview: Peak Locomotor Demands in Football 🔻Among other key topics, Module 7 explored the concept of peak locomotor demands in football, often referred to as the most demanding passages (MDPs) or worst-case scenarios (WCS). These represent critical phases during matches when players experience maximum intensity, both physically and technically. 🔻To deepen our understanding, I had the pleasure of inviting José María Oliva Lozano, a distinguished researcher and practitioner in this field, to share his insights. His contributions highlighted the importance of analyzing these high-intensity periods to better inform training practices and optimize player performance. ⚽️ As practitioners, it is essential to exercise caution when evaluating average match demands. Focusing solely on averages can overlook the significant fluctuations in physical and technical output throughout the 90 minutes, ultimately underestimating the true intensity of competition. 🙏 Thank you, Jose, for your valuable contribution to my course and for enriching our understanding of this critical topic in football performance. #WCS #footballtraining #physicalperformance #matchdemands #injuryprevention

📢𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞 𝗕𝗬 𝗜𝗧𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙 🤔📢 "Tomás, what kind of story is that the exercises talk by itself? That doesn't make any sense..." Maybe 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in your matches, trainings, matches observed...if I would "guess" what leads the teams to an advantage against the last players from the opponent I would say: 💡 10% through individual actions 💡 5% through individual mistakes ... 💡85% through the ability the teams have to beat the press direction from the opponent And this was exactly what happened in this match, in this specific situation. Arsenal was 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 and 𝗣𝗦𝗚 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁, entering into a situation of 3x3 just with the defensive line behind the ball. "Ok Tomás but what does that have to do with the exercises that can talk?" Surely many of us had at some point (with more or less variation) this kind of 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, with one team (red team) starting always with the ball with the intention to score and the other (blue team) trying to get the ball back and trying to score. My question is...𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁? ...and let's make a game now...𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲, and adding the following rule: 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝟮 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲, they get 𝟭 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁. What do you think that will happen? ...The players are going to start closing the middle right? And more...They are going to: 👉 Be forced to be closer to their direct opponent 👉 Start using their body and focus on: 👉 which foot they are going to use to press and don't allow the opponent to beat the press direction 👉 which side they are going to take related to the direct opponent 👉 which body position they need to adopt And the coach? 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁, 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯, while the players are fighting for their survival and learning the key concepts and principles of the Defensive Process. Does this make sense to you? RB Leipzig

This weekend is the kickoff of the English #PremierLeague’s new season. For me personally, this is my favorite competition and I beleive its quality tops that of the World Cup or Euro Cup. Although those international tournaments are more engaging and globally popular, but often suffer from the limited time for real preparation and integration. In contrast, the Premier League is a long-term strategic journey. With some of the best coaches and players globally, every match is a thrilling display of high-level tactics, execution, and engagement right up to its last minute, and over the entire season Legendary managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola, Jürgen Klopp, and Arsène Wenger have transcended football to become icons in leadership, strategy, and innovation. Their influence is now a staple in any workshop, exercise, or course focused on these themes. Premier League clubs have also evolved into significant investment vehicles, attracting club owners ranging from business tycoons and royalties, to private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds. However, a rising debate questions whether all the above is transforming #football into a game that is too tactical, spoiling the joy and the individual talent of players, and whether the increasing financial flow is eroding fair competition. What are your thoughts on this debate? NB: for those wondering to whom my support goes —I say “Victoria Concordia Crescit.”

𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓: 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬? It’s not just about the money. It’s about: → Investing in the club’s future → Seeing potential in Leeds → Adding to their football portfolio → Keeping the team’s identity intact You might think, "What about changes?" No worries. Red Bull won’t change the team name, stadium name, or shirt colors. Even after a narrow loss to Southampton, Leeds keeps its identity. This could be the turning point. Red Bull’s support might be what Leeds needs. To rise in the Championship. And achieve new heights. Because it’s not just about the investment. It’s about the belief in what Leeds United can become. Simple. #sportsbiz #sports #linkedinsports

The ability to effectively accelerate in football is an imperative characteristic. Often accelerations are overlooked yet players struggle to reach max velocity in match play due to the shorter demands of getting to the ball first, finding space before opposition, and defending tasks etc.. The metabolic demands of accelerations have to be considered when analysing and programming for training stimulus and overload. Acceleration averages can provided a bettter understanding of; ⚡️The individual demands that players are exposed to in match play. ⚡️ Considers the lower speed accelerations and higher speed accelerations which can reduce injury risk and allows us to predict load and intensity. Due to the metabolic demands that are placed in players within accelerated running an emphasis for top up or micro-dosed training has to be focused around the technical elements within accelerated running! https://lnkd.in/eUFxYjR7

⚽️🩼 Recently, Josh sat down with Rising Ballers to share his story about coming through the Arsenal academy, facing tough decisions, and ultimately choosing to leave the club for Brentford when they were still in the Championship. That decision wasn’t easy. Imagine being offered a new contract by Arsenal, a club you’ve been with for 10 years, but feeling that your future lies elsewhere. It took incredible courage and clarity to make the move to Brentford, a decision that’s proven to be a key moment in his career, as we all know where Brentford are now. But what stood out in Josh’s interview was how important it was to have a solid support system around him—family, close friends, and mentors who truly had his best interest at heart. Josh’s journey is a reminder that we all need people in our corner, especially when faced with life-changing decisions. Surround yourself with those who uplift you, offer wisdom, and support your dreams, even if it means making the tough calls! Josh also opened up about dealing with multiple long-term injuries. It’s one of the hardest things an athlete can go through, physically and mentally. There were moments where the setbacks seemed never-ending, but Josh’s resilience never wavered. Through it all, he leaned on his support system and found strength in talking to the people closest to him. It’s easy to feel alone in tough times, but speaking up and sharing the burden can make all the difference. And lastly, through every challenge, Josh has held onto his faith. There’s something powerful in trusting God’s plan, even when the path feels uncertain. Believing that every step, even the difficult ones, serves a purpose has helped him stay grounded and motivated. Josh’s story is bigger than football. It’s about having faith, staying grounded, and knowing that with the right people around you, you can overcome any obstacle and make the right choices for your future. 💪🏽 #StayFocused #TrustTheProcess #SupportSystem #Faith #JoshDaSilva #RisingBallers #FamilyFirst #Bees #BrentfordFC #Brentford https://lnkd.in/ewdjCVRK
